- Recruit Melodie and either Podge or Nin
- Talk to the Stormcat about tribes
- Go to the Barrows
- You need one of two convictions: The Litany Sustains Us OR Find Purpose Through Dignity. This is probably the problem. Purpose Through Dignity is kind of tricky (it's the opposite of joking around, but it's not always easy to figure out which. The Litany Sustains Us is easier—it involves being polite to senior werewolves, honoring werewolf traditions and Gaia, valuing your pack, and keeping werewolf stuff secret from humans (Nomi).
- The other likely problem: You also need at least 7 Honor, so you might have to pick up extra chiminage on a mission before you can join. (In-game description if Honor is a priority: "To restore the packs and the tribes, to help rebuild the laws and the dignity of the Garou Nation." I think there's another description of how to get it somewhere but I'm having trouble digging it up.) Once you have the chiminage, join the tribe before trying to learn any new spirit gifts.
Hart Wardens: Unlock the barrows (recruit Melodie). You need high Find Courage in Laughter and something else, I think an affinity for the Litany.
Sufficient Glory is also required for either tribe.
Yeah, the other conviction for Hart Wardens is The Litany Sustains Us.
But you only need one of the two convictions to join a tribe, not both! (For example, my first Black Fury had high Humans Must Understand but had Our Weapon Is Spirit instead of Our Weapon Is Rage.)
I was doing good with Dignity Through Purpose, but then that started dropping off, because I guess some of the actions I took weren't considered the most prim and proper decisions.
I don't own any Apocalypse books, and especially not 5th edition ones. How the hell am I supposed to know what's considered proper etiquette among Garou? Because I was under the impression that whoever was the biggest, strongest, most aggressive member of the pack got to call the shots.
At present, I believe I have 3 dots in Litany Sustains Us. I also have high dots in Academics, with some focus on Charisma and Leadership.
I think just one dot in the appropriate Conviction(s) is necessary to join a tribe, no need for all 3. I almost never have any conviction maxed out at 3, and that has never triggered a failure for me at any point in the game, so a maxed out conviction is more for roleplaying purposes.
I just finished the mission to recruit Melodie, and I got Podge before that. Haven't gone after Nin, because that's where the demo cut off, and I wanted to try retracing my steps before continuing with her.
I'm Silver Fangs now.
Bow down, peasants!
I looked up the guides section and, if I'm reading it correctly, there are spirits in the game that require you to have a certain level of Conviction before they'll grant you their support.
They're divided up into 1 Dot, 2 Dot, 3 Dot spirits, and not every Conviction has a spirit associated for every rank.
Yeah, it's pretty much impossible to get every gift in one, two, or even 3 go arounds. Some of the spirits will only agree to work with specific Auspices, or specific Tribes. So if you want their support, you need to make different characters, instead of playing the same one.
Not sure how I did this, but on my character sheet, I currently have 3 dots in almost every conviction on the right side of the bar, save for Purpose through Dignity, which has 1 dot towards the left.
