Longer than Tolkien?

Alright, so I remember seeing people claim this game is supposedly 3x longer than the Lord of the Rings. Which is strange, because the game recently came out, and yet there are posts on the forums which seem to imply that people have already finished a playthrough of it.

So, to anybody who's gotten an ending for the game, can you clarify for the rest of us, if the game's actually lives up to this claim, or is it just an exaggeration?

The beta testers would have played through the game before its release. Apparently LOTR is less than 500,000 words long, while Hungry Names has about 1.6 million words total, BUT any given playthrough of Hungry Names will only follow some branches of the story and end up much shorter. A fair bit of the word count is also description of various spirits that can be skimmed over.

There is a guide under Night Road for saving progress in games like these; I wouldn't have been able to get anywhere without something like that.

Honestly, I was expecting the demo to only cover the first chapter. Was surprised to find out that it goes all the way up to (half way?) chapter 4.

I say half way, because the game just kind of stopped right before the climax of recruiting my 3rd pack member. But before that, I had learned 2 gifts and successfully joined the Shadow Lords.
