Best Graphics Settings.
Can anyone tell me what the highest graphics settings are within the game? Most are obvious but some aren't. At present with what I assume is the highest settings, I get FPS of between 25-30 most of the time, with the odd dip to 15. Would it improve if I clocked the graphics card slightly? Just thought I would do some experimenting....

Hi Mutley, clocking your graphics card will in most cases only give minume performance inprovements in terms of FPS, it may increase them slightly but not so you will see a great difference visually. All is interrealated with your CPU and Memory,Chipset. What Graphics Card do you have?

under advanced the AA settings go form minimum to maximum from memory the maximum is FXAA 3x3SSAA the lowest is OFF. It will depend if you use dynamic lighting if you do NOT then you do not need any SSAA settings just the FXAA ones.

@jsjumshannon - My Graphics card is an ASUS RADEON HD7850 with 2Gb on board. The ASUS Dashboard make clocking easy although I've never needed to.

@Phase3 - Thanks for the info on settings. I will have a look and see what I am using. I use Dynamic lighting so I will check and make sure I'm using SSAA and see what happens.

""....Can anyone tell me what the highest graphics settings are within the game?..."" This question makes no sense. The highest settings in the game are the highest numbers or the furthest right you can move the slider. The 'highest' is usally at the top or to the right. The results will be different for most people as there are very few computers in the world that have identical performance reults, even with the same settings.

I was referring more to the FXAA and SSAA settings. I always run with everything else turned fully up.

Hi

I have been looking at a number of comments on here about FPS, when I first got TS2014
I had everything turned up on the Highest setting and was getting just 15 FPS.

I was happy with that, but after a few changes I realized I could get up to 40 FPS by making changes in the Custom Advance section.
Each change I made, I came back to the same scenario so I could be sure what I was getting differently.

With Phase3 comments above I changed the Anti-Aliasing, putting Dynamic Lighting on and off,
but just now, after panning the view point out to look around I noticed the horizon has a green tinge to it, so I kept making changes and it's not going away, even going back to the highest setting it remains.

For the record some of my specs are...
Intel i5-3317U CPU @ 1.70GHz
RAM 6GB (5.89 Usable)
64 bit OS

Anything I've done wrong by changing a setting that's not suited to my laptop?

The green tinge may occur in later routes when dynamic lighting is turned off or on and may be related to the new weather settings now in TS2015.
What is your monitor size and resolution?
What is your graphics card and how much VRAM?
Setting the graphics settings in TS 2015 is dependent on your OS cpu, RAM, Graphics card and monitor resolution.

GlennI perhaps he should have used "Maximum"?

Hi Phase3

Is this the info you were after?

Resolution 1366 X 768
Total Available Graphics Memory 1792
Dedicated 32mb
OS: Windows 8

I managed to get rid of the light green tinge by making the settings as below...

Custom
Anti-Aliasing = FXAA
Texture Filtering = Linear
Scenery Quality = Just above Centre
Scenery Density = Same
View Distance = Same
Shadow Quality = Nil
Water Quality = High
Dynamic Lighting = On

But with all that, FPS is now mostly 15 with a slight burst to 24

Ok they look OK. Now to the question is the game running SMOOTHLY? If yes forget fps. If not you may need to look at your video card. Usually you need scenery quality to be highest so that you don't miss out n certain items in the sime like platforms etc I suspect your graphics card may not be up to the job but as I do not know what cpu you are running it could be either.
If we could see the info listed below that would be useful:

Use Windows logo key + r/R key type in msinfo32 and press enter.

System Summary:
OS Name
System Type
Processor
Installed Physical Memory (GB)
Page File Space

Hard Drive size and free space when last defragmented (not if it is an SSD) as below:
Components\Storage\Hard Drives
Size and
Free Space

Video card model and VRAM and Monitor size and resolution, using Components\Display
Adapter Description
Adapter RAM
Resolution

As I say this can be found: Windows + R key type in msinfo32 and press enter, the above info is all there or use “speccy” http://www.piriform.com/speccy.

Hi

Thanks for your help with this, very much appreciated.
The frame lags a little, but I guess it doesnt help being on a laptop, thats why I was ok with 15FPS

OS Name: Windows 8.1
System Type: 64 bit
Processor: Intel i5-3317U CPU - 1.70GHz - 17-1MHz
Installed Physical Memory: 6.00 GB
Page File Space: 960MB
Size: 258.15GB
Free Space: 257.98GB
Adapter Description: Intel HD Graphics 4000
Adapter RAM: 2,080,374,784
Resolution: 1366x768x60 Hertz

I can see a couple of problems right there:

1/ CPU @ 1.7 GHz is rather slow

2/ Intel HD 4000 Graphics. Hmmm Integrated graphics are never a good idea for any games, let alone TS. This kind of graphics also limits your useable memory.

Are you running a netbook or laptop?

TS does not officially support those.
impulserail Dec 15, 2014 @ 7:45pm
Laptop

I have only been on TS since January this year, kind of thought installing it may have issues, but it's all I have.

Time to upgrade to a stand along I guess.
Glenn Dec 15, 2014 @ 11:23pm
Unfortunately it is neither easy or cheap to upgrade a laptop (impossible in many cases)
Dodgydruid Dec 16, 2014 @ 6:07am
Again the cpu is being throttled due to being a laptop model, an i5 should be capable of more than 1.7ghz, my daughters Fujitsu rattles along at about 4ghz and that's a i5.

To play games she has to set her power options to performance and have it plugged into the mains, I disabled all the energy saving options in the BIOS like battery saving graphics options, turning off monitor, powering down drives which all played merry hell with it all and she can run LotRO full graphics, no lag but a heck load of heat that now has a cooler to deal with as heat will cause problems as much as anything else.

Mention of SSD reminded me that Aria has in 1TB super fast SSD's not cheap though but will be grabby grabby of one in the new year meself lol
