Train Simulator not working on my new computer.

I got a new computer with alot more hourse power then my laptop. I used steam to download and install ts 2014 on my new computer. Everytime I start ts Italways write out a dump file. I have no other informatiom. Is there a way to read the dump file. I tried to uninstall steam and ts and reinstall the programs but I stll cannot get ts to start. Does any one have any sugjestions?

You will never read that dump file! First go here> C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks and run the programme called 'Logmate.exe'
Then try running Train Simulator.
Then you can read / save the logmate file. It's not always clear what went wrong but at least it's easy to read and it MIGHT give you some clues.
If no luck then I suggest the next step would be to verify your files. You do this when logged into Steam. Select 'Library' at top left, then 'All Games'. Right click on TS and selct properties. Then 'Local Files' then 'Verify Game Cache'. Any missing or corrupted files will be replaced automatically. Be warned that this can take quite a long time.

A basic solution to gameoverlayrenderer or (GOR) is to remove the .dll's for 32 and 64 or stop the GOR in settings for TS2017. The fact is none of those work because this GOR is in enery game from Steam. Also the GOR is active no matter what you do by virtue of not shutting it down everywhere.. The only thing to be done is to clean the GOR .log which for all intensive purpose is labor intensive and in every gome which defeats the purpose.
The answer lies in a windows 10 security program which is FREEEEEEEE!!! ( 360 total security).
A program which just by its own programming finds all of Steams log files and clears them when using their cleaning program. I have been using this program for some time know on a daily basis and my Steam products are running great!!!! My TS 2017 is very, very large and I have no problems with crashes due to this programs intense cleaning specs. TRY it YOU will LIKE IT

You installed Steam then let Steam install TS- that's just what I did recently with no problems I'm happy to say including the Workshop scenarios I was subscribed to. As has been discussed in another thread though installing Workshop scenarios can go wrong and one broken scenario can bring down the whole program- could that be the problem?

i had trouble with freezes when in the menus or workshop or the store. I found in the configurations for steam to "remove steam overlay" and the freezes stopped. I too was getting a dump file and I looked at mine in visual studio with the same results as above.

JJT has probably given you the answer. You have a 0xC0000005 error which usually means in simple terms a 'memory mismatch' which is probably due to a 'corrupt' file eg a workshop scenario. Have a look at your reliability history to see if this error shows up when TS2017 crashes.
