TS 2014 Will not run
Hello. Installed the Riviera line. Used it twice (Fantastic Graphics) Well pleased. It then stooped working press play on the interface it plays only the sound of intro. I ran repair, then complete uninstall re install. Run vcrest, and delete appcache (though it puts it back in again) Installed Train sim and that will not work either. I have Win 10 64 bit 8 gigs ram. Any ideas please guys.

Just to make sure... you mean TS2015 right? because if you run TS2014 it can only be done if it is a pirated copy as Steam will update automatically to 2015. If 2014 and pirated..wrong place to ask... no-one here will be of any help.

However if it is TS2015 you might try to reinstall the DLC, if that doesn't work a file verification and if that doesn't work a full reinstall (remove te entire railworks folder prior to reinstall)
All the steps for above are found in

Thanks for your reply Mavadelo. Yes its 2014 on both disc boxes purchased from Amazon. It then changed to 2015 on registration and download. I would not have pirate stuff anywhere near my machine. I will try the guide as you sugested and post back the results. I also have flight sims but never had problems like this. Many thanks again. Mike.

Just so you know (in case youi didn't) you do not need your cd/dvd ever again so if you would need to reinstall you can push the install button on the game page.

Good luck

I have uninstalled from control panel. Run disk cleanup and reinistalled from website with new code like you said. Unfortunately still the same problem. Press play button. The desktop freezes and it plays the audio intro, no video in TS. It says Error vertex buffer DXCommon/chcvertexmanagerdx.cpp.

Can you give me some system specs besides OS and RAM? :) (CPU, Graphics card)
The error message seems an old issue for TS, I found several topics about it but non with a definitife answer. Could you try to following. Go to ..../Steam/steamapps/common/RailWorks/install and reinstall the packaes you find there (vcredist_x86, Physics and DirectX) while making sure you install all of them with admin rights.

And what you mean with new code, you shouldn''t have had the need for a code. Once a game is tied to your account it is yours and can be reinstalled on every system you can install steam on and that is authorised with your email to be used for your account (you know...that 4 digit code you need to enter after the first time you start steam on a system which is send to your email)

Thanks again for your reply. I have Geforce gt640 version 355.60. The website emailed this code so i could install the software which i did. What i dont understand is the Riviera line worked perfect for about 3 times then stopped, it came up with this error, i then installed train simulator thinking that would cure the problem but just made it worse. I have tried installing vcredist, and DX10 Works perfect in FSX. I will try the link you supplied and post back results.

The package TS uses is DX9.0c, it does not use DX10. Here might be your problem if DX9.0c is not installed correctly which can sometimes happen if installed from within another install. DX10 and up are not backwards compatible with 9 so I always recommend if you have games running 9 to reinstall 9 when you installed a higher version. This can be done savely as the DX9 install just places some files back that got removed with the 10 and up installs. Your DX10 will remain the dominant DX on your system

btw,, we have the same graphics card and I have no issues at all. Having 4GB ram and a intel G645 processor

Thanks again. I have tried to install DX9 From MS Site it says you have the newer version so no new install nessesary. It wont back install. Usually all software programmes go with the current add ons. FSX and P3D Flight sim runs perfect. I cant beleive that as I have a powerefull machine and others may have the same. I wonder how many have given up with steam.

BTW Has steam anything to do with MS Steam flight sim version?
Mavadelo Aug 23, 2015 @ 7:37am
As I said, install from within the install folder, I didn't say go to MS site as they will (as you noticed) say "oh you have 10, you don't need 9. YES you need 9.
Besides that there is no "usually" in software. TS does NOT use DX10, it does NOT use multicore (although your system might use it for other purposes during play) and TS does NOT use "current version" off DX, PhysX and VCredist

No, Steam is just a sort of DRM nothing more. FSX Steam edition is published by DTG.

Oh! so how would I get round that? DX10 Just appeared, wether from FSX or win up dates I dont know, one thing for sure I would not download from another another site for security reasons. I feel more inclined just to uninstall the whole thing and send the discs back to Amazon for a refund.

I am sorry I don't want to offend you in any way but do you have reading problems? I never said you have to download anything nor did I say to use windows update. I provided you with the location of the setup already (..../Steam/steamapps/common/RailWorks/install) this is not a link, this is the location on your hard drive replace .../ with the hard drive letter and main program folder used (if default location that would be C:/Program Files(x86)/ )the setup is in this case provided to you by DTG, if you don't trust DTG you better uninstall both TS and FSX (and DTG fishing if you hapeen to have that)

You definitely need DX9 no matter what MS says. Many games, still use DX9 and few use DX10. Most went direct to 11 although this is still usually optional. If you really want to download from MS, rather than use the installation file provided (as suggested by Mavadelo), then try https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=35 which I think is the latest although the links have changed since I last had to update DX9.

Thanks Furiey Tried that, same old thing as previous. Tried Mavadelo's link just the same. The only thing I can think off is uninstall DX10 and try reinstall DX9.

Just tried to install the riveira line from the disk it says a file is missing does not say what file. Faulty goods i recone looking like a regect.
Mavadelo Aug 23, 2015 @ 10:25am
Like I already said... your disc is not needed, you can instll everyting right from steam. Funny, I described to the letter what and how yet you still do your own thing
I didn't mention control panel, yet you uninstall from control panel
I didn't mention disk clean up (which won't remove what needs to be removed" yet you use cleanup
I didn't mention going to a download site..yet you go to a download site
I mention you don't need the disc, yet you use the disc

If you continuelike this I can't help you. Either read and do what is said there or do your own thing. It's not faulty goods, the good are fine, it is faulty methode of trying to repair your install
