Jointed track sounds

I would like help "placing" separately place jointed track sounds.

I thought it would be as simple as split the track and reconnect it together to make the sound, but no.

Does anyone know how to do this?

I tried that too .. it didn't work. If you find out let me know, I don't need welded rail on my route!
(Try messing around with the track sound drop downs when your laying track, I use the "iron bridge ones frequently and they make a decent click-clack sound)
