This actually does speed up loading by the way, my friend told me about this and it does speed loading up a significant amount.

64-bit mode is actually more likely to cause errors, as many add-ons were made before it existed and have not been updated for compatibility. Generally you should stick to 32-bit unless you actually need the extra RAM for loading lots of different AI trains, as would be the case if you ran a scenario which has all of the prototypical stock that would be seen in London, for example.
