Which one to buy? TS 2020 or TSW 2020?
Title says it all.
I need help choosing one, please enlighten me with your valuable advice and suggestions.

Also mention which one you are inclined for and why.

TSW2020 is a dead end – it’s deprecated, and will soon be replaced with Train Sim World 2. There will be no more content made for TSW2020. You might want to wait and see if TSW2 is any good, or you could buy TS2020 to access its large library of available content.

I've rather soured on TSW. It was announced as the future of train simulation with new, better everything and ongoing development to introduce an editor, steam, multiplayer and free puppies for everyone though I may misremember some of that. I bought it around New Year- I fancied a couple of the routes and thought it was at a point where it was getting interesting, would continue to get better and I'd like to support it ... which is more than can be said of Dovetail. They've just announced TSW2. Got TSW? Hope you like it because it's not going to get better, it's not going to get an editor, it's not going to get steam or indeed any new loco's or routes. This vexes me.

I've logged hardly any time in TSW not because of any failings, I'll get into it at some point honest (well I'd better because I can't get a refund now :steamsad: and yes- I've asked), I just enjoy TS so much. Personally I would go for TS because obviously but also there's the choice. Something like 200 routes in Steam alone- surely at least double that with third party products. The same goes for loco's and if you want to drive steam locomotives TS is the only choice. It's a lot cheaper too.

Hope this is helpful.

I have never personally tried TSW. Looking at some youtube vids, I am not particularly impressed - looks too much like an arcadey game to me - maybe that was deliberate in an attempt to lure in a more diverse type of 'player' ??!! Don't know if TSW and TSW part two are compatible with each other, but if they are not, then I see that as being business suicide! There's is not much 'stuff' available for TSW yet, and without an editor, it seems likely that that will continue to be the case (unless some clever people figure out how to use the unreal engine by themselves!) - but even then, it does not exactly pander to the masses, ergo, less custom assets being created.

No, think I will definitely be sticking with old faithful TS20** for the forseeable future.

Just to ad... better the devil you know than the one you don't !

DTG will abandon and replace TSW2 with TSW3 in a couple of years. If you want to play please buy yet again for the third time :steamsalty:

Okay, I thank all of you for replying and providing your perspective. All your words are valuable to me, I am grateful to have beautiful people like you guys.

Looks like Train Sim is more like monthly donation rather than one time good game purchase.

Also side by side, I also respect the developers, they also have life to live, they should earn money, they develop things and obviously it's gonna cost me. But anyways at this point of time I think I should wait for TSW2.

Thank you all.
Have a nice day!

:)

Not necessarily though there'll be some people who will buy a route, play the scenarios once and move on. Personally I got started with TS2016 plus The Weardale and Teesdale Network in the '60s and it was a year or so before I bought anything else. Find a route that really clicks with you and you never get tired of it.
