How do i brake with the keyboard?
I looked at the in game controls list, and it says i have to brake using the apostrophe and semicolon buttons. When i press the apostrophe, the train does slow down, but the hud doesnt indicate it. If i press it again, the train stops slowing. The semicolon is not a button in itself on my keyboard, and i have to press Shift + comma to get a semicolon. How do i apply the brakes without manually pulling the levers in the cab?

Ah, I expect the keyboard layout to be the problem. I suspect TS is designed to work with the US English keyboard layout. http://kbd-intl.narod.ru/images/en.png

I guess you could try to see if it works pressing the Æ and Ø work, which are located at the buttons usually used for the keyboard.

Or perhaps try setting Windows to the US/EN keyboard layout before starting up TS.

What's your keyboard layout?
What HUD are you using? F3 or F4?

I prefer the f3 hud, but i have to use the f4 hud to use the brakes, as i cant get the shortcuts to work. I am using this layout: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/84/KB_Danish.svg

That's only the controls for the train brakes. In case you ever need the dynamic brake or locomotive brakes, you'd probably need to search for the right buttons as well.

In my case,
- the button to the right of 9 applies train brake (weird)
- the buttons to the right of P reduce / apply loco brake
- the buttons to the right of L reduce / apply train brake
- the buttons to the right of M reduce / apply electric brakes
This is the most generic explanation I can come up with. This is an area for national characters, used for some braces and brackets in the US layout.
