That's the route, not the loco. There's no such thing as northern default stock. Unless you name the exact loco you're driving, despite very much wishing to help you, no-one is going to be able to. Most trains in the game are very different, and have all sorts of ways to control the cab light. Even a couple of the locos in the game don't have a cab light that can be operated.
I'm baffled why you're so reluctant to tell everyone which loco it is; it really is key to us properly helping you. But just for your info, just in case you're not aware, all manuals for route and locos are found at the following default location on your PC:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Manuals\EN
You might find the answer in one of those .pdfs. Or the JT SECML route manual, if it's a loco they've provided specifically for this particular route. Good luck. All the best.
If this is indeed the case I would like to make sure to OP that he/she doesn't have to fear that. We all have started at some point and have found things that made us scratch our heads. However, a comment you might often see is "RTFM which stands for "Read the censored manual" and that is a just comment also. As Growler pointed out there are manuals in your railworks folder for many engines and routes, if you get a headscratcher look there first. If the manual doesn't provide you with an asnwer there is always this forum. Make it a point to mention that if you have read the manual and it doesn't give you the answer, people know you have been reading it thus avoiding the RTFM
The Class 43 have their cab lights on the dashboard (controls and buttons in front of you). It may be located to your left or (if by chance) behind the driving seat
(Moral of the story: It's just a game; try various keys until something works, or find the manuals right where Growler said they should be.)
Hi Chas, out of curiosity I took a good look at the 'guilty' loco. You know what, I think it simply might not have an interior cab light! Much to my surprise, either in-cab or keyboard, like you, I just couldn't get any such light functioning. But having said that I rarely use them, so historically easily missed. I wonder whether many players are the same. Maybe you have more attention to detail, than many of us! ;)
The Class 43 was one of the earliest locos in the game, it is quite possible indeed it doesn't have such a light. Thankfully both loco modelling (and their manuals!) have improved greatly as the game has steadily evolved. I suspect only one of the more senior developer's of the game could categorically give you a definitive answer on this one. The Just Train support, are very helpful; so if it's really bugging you, it might be worth just sending a quick email with your query, and see what they say. But I suspect they are currently inundated by queries regarding their newly released routes. So perhaps even better, contact MullySoft directly, via his website (just Google his name with the route, and his site will pop-up) as he was the creator of the SECML so most probably wrote the scenarios, and will know the locos used very well. Sorry we've failed you on this occasion! :( But if you do find out, please let us all know. :)
P.S. Feliks, just got their first; as I was composing my post. Another player thinking the same.
