"Except for the lines U5 and U6, all lines operate completely below ground".
You have a few lines that are quite literally in the open air. Would be nice to get one or two of the lines in the game. I guess its just a case of which ones.
Sorry to resurrect an old post but I just want to let you know that I would love to have a London Underground route. Preferably a Northern Line route cira. 1980's. I think the Northern Line would be a good choice with a mix of overground and deep line underground. the Northern Line has a lot of heritage behind it and it would be great to see someone do it justice.
With all due respect to Growler's comments - I don't think its accurate to suggest there are other successful underground simulators out there. The best known is BVE but its not exactly cutting edge graphics. And to say the World of Subways effort covers a big chunk of the London Tube is a bit of an exaggeration. Its the Circle Line which is not even proper underground.
Is this still on a long wish list or has this come up in any recent developer discussions as a possibility in the near future?
I would personally hope your new next generation Unreal Engine based simulator is going to have better underground / dark tunnel support so that a wealth of DLC could be released based on Metro lines from all over the world. If this is the case then I would be happy to wait for the new engine.
Just please please take Deep Tunnel Metro's into consideration for your new next-gen engine. Nobody else has really delivered a quality sophisticated simulation of the London Underground and I think you have an opportunity here.
WOS proved that having totally underground lines can get very repetitive and boring, with no exterior cam and many tunnel textures being obvious copy n paste affairs. Their follow up release based in New York was much better with a combination of above ground as well as subway making it much more enjoyable.
My vote would be for the District line, a nice mix of surface and underground line, with some nice AI opportunities in the open at areas like Wimbledon where it runs alongside the mainline.
I completely agree that the northern line would be a good route for this what with there trains just being updated and that it is a nice big line.
The District line between Wimbledon to Edgware Rd would get my money.
BTW I've spend some of my life on the Northern Line during rush hour. They wouldn't allow animals to endure those conditions.
It also has a great Overground Terminus and Depot at Morden and plenty of other overground stations north of Hampstead and East Finchley.
Yes, I have it. I love driving it on the South London Network. Can get some nice speed out of it too. :-)
