The GWR 14xx Steam Locomotive add-on
Hi

Just wanted to share this glimpse of the excellent GWR 58xx locomotive, that is included with the official Steam DLC GWR 14xx Steam Locomotive add-on. The video shows how to use the advanced controls to fill the boiler, do a water gauge blowdown and eventually move off in the 5818.

It also uses the official West Somerset Railway add-on.

If you want to watch it on youtube the video is v=jFOIg4XN9Ks

That is a fantastic video and so glad you're enjoying the loco.
I hope you don't mind but I've shared it via our Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=657003637745651&id=508015739311109

The GWR 14xx is a nice job from karma and friends

But it is to difficult to fill water to the boiler. It is only a simple valve to open. You can only do it by means of the mouse. It have to be more simple and easy. As I said it is only a valve you are opening. It is not a faulting job in darkness and trying.

But otherwise it is a nice constellation loco and driving wagon, but make it more easy to fill that boiler in advance mode

Thank you for the feedback. I admit that the fact that you can only toggle the injectors on and off via the keyboard, yet need to set them at a value less than full to make them work in Advaned mode was an oversight and we will make sure that they can be keyboard operated for all future releases.
However we see no issue with having to adjust the injectors correctly. You need to use the right amount of steam pressure to inject the water into the boiler.. too much and all you do is stop the water entering the injector. There are audio and visual clues (look at the pipes under the cab) that show very clearly when the injectors are operating correctly. And as with all of the "realistic" locos about these days - practice makes perfect, just like the real thing.

If you want to fill the boiler "easily" then we would recommend using the F4 HUD's "give me water" button or not running in Advanced mode. There's no point in us trying to make an advanced mode that replicates the operation of a real locomotive, and then simplifying it again to make it "simple and easy". Hopefully being able to do it via the keyboard in future will make it easier as a person operating a PC, but we won't be simplifying it by making it unrealistic.

The video in this post shows that it's very straight forward once you know what to look and listen for.

Yes Karma I know excatly what I have to do and listen to, I just says it is to dificult to open a valve by maens af the mouse. In the real life and in real locomotive is is a simple job to open a valve ½ or 3/4 and listen for the sound (I have been working with steam most of my life).

But anyhow it is a very nice loco you have made.
