Where's the N&W Class J #611 for Railworks?
Hey,

I was just wondering if anyone on here knows if the N&W Class J #611 is being made for use in Train Simulator 2016? And if so, by whom?

I have been wondering the same thing so I sent a message the FireUp611 campaign and Dovetail games. The best way to show we want it is to ask and show there is a demand for such content. VMT owns the trademark but like Norfolk Southern and CSX which own more expensive trademarks, like their logos, and names, the trademark for VMT of the Class J 611 is being used to help pay for her maintenance and to run it on excursions.

I don't know if there should be a petition or what to get their attention but Dovetail has worked with trademarks before in the past.

Good idea. Thanks for suggesting that. Personally, I feel that for each of the restored and running (Or being restored to run.) steam engines out there, there should be a model of it for sale with part of the profits going to help with the engine maintance, etc.. They may not make a fortune, but it would also serve as a way to advertise their projects to rail fans.

It doesn't and I never said it did...

I was suggesting that as it hadn't been done yet it probably won't...OK. Good.

It's a freeware (and work-in-progress) mod of my UP FEF-3 (done with my permission), so the bodywork is close to 611 but the rest of it uses a very large dose of artistic license. You'll need to own the FEF-3 to be able to use the J-Class.

That thick smoke was a recent upgrade to the FEF-3.

Can anyone find some sort of loophole or workaround for us to get a scratch built J Class (not that I'm saying Luk and Sibell's is bad), but I, as much as the people on this thread really want to see 611 pumping her pistons on TS.

Several months ago I explained that I looked into this and abandoned the project because of the exorbitant cost of acquiring the necessary engineering drawings (from the NWHS). When you add on all the other costs (the cost of licensing from the VMT is only one of them), it's just not economically viable (at least not for a developer such as myself, which is one reason why I began work on Jupiter instead).
