Free Add-ons
I'm sure this has been asked countless times. But as a poor college student, I can't afford the DLC so is there any place for free add-ons and maps for the game?

Yes in fact there are but you have to take in consideration that user created routes might involve lots of third party content. You could check on http://railsimulator.net http://www.rail-sim.de/ and so there are many more. there are also 3 routes that used to be in a previous version of railworks that can be downloaded from the workshop

Also have a look on Google. We are not allowed to mention 3rd party details but if you google TS2015 add ons you should find something.

One that's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid. Two, all the add-on sites I've found, either cost or require DLC, you can't seem to be able to get new content without paying.

Be nice if the devs would give some new updates, I can only run Donner Pass so many times.

There are three above you, that are free. Try visiting the workshop and look up routes.

Seebergbahn esp is an excellent route

Been running the scenarios on that route that are available. Pretty nice, although the Black 5 steam loco is a bit underpowered for some of the hills . Had to swap it with Flyiing Scotsman to make the grades. Also the 7F which is a standard on TS2015 would probably be an even better choice accroding to the tractive effort stats.

There is Hagen - Siegen V3, there is the Felderpass, ther is Altenburg-Wildau, there is Northern Europe. Check the sites mentiioned and check google for the routes I just mentioned. Some sites might have you need google translate if you don't speak french or german or italian etc but there are tons of freeware routes out there. Problem is the amount of other freeware (and often payware too) that you need to hunt down to have the routes working not to mention scenery packs, sound packs and things like that. Don't think just downloading and installing a freeware route means having a new route to play lol
check this topic on the old (I think they are the old) forums of steam http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2506666

Yes I have, I downloaded it from http://www.railworks.dk/ where you can make a account (google translate plug in does a great job translating the site to english). The problem lies with http://www.dksimulators.dk/ where several of the rolling stock is hosted where you can't make an account. I was able to post on a blog from one of the Danish makers on how to go about getting them. Did this a few hours ago so I hope to get an answer.

is there a way to get free engines?
LeadCatcher Dec 4, 2016 @ 2:19pm
Several sites have free DLC -- www.uktriansim.com for british - Railworks America for US and a couple of different German web-sites as well. As listed in the message above your question

Take a look at the Third Party Discussions thread, over to the right on the main Discussions page. You'll find some useful links there.
