Completley free, but you have to chase a few extra downloads off other sites.
Top notch route this one I was gonna suggest it myself but I think you might need the US asset pack and possibly the EU one as well. Without those two packs its hard to get any sort of freeware stuff but the good news is if you can spare a few dollars at some point (maybe in a sale or something) they come bundled in some of the earlier routes. I think WCML North actually has them both bundled with it.

there are some good Spanish routes like the LAV: Madrid - Valencia which is a high speed route

A tip with freeware routes. Always read the documentation that come with them, there might be additional downloads needed. On the site of railworks america always download from the route page and check the drop down with the downloads, if multiple downloads are offereed you will need all of them
