Game seems to freeze on loading screen?
I have not installed this game in a while and downloaded it again today to play. It seems to hang on the loading screen with the three bullet trains. The game apears to be working, I can alt tab in and out just fine, task manager is not reporting a crash. The game just never moves beyond the three bullet train screen. It never gets to the main menu, the intro video of the train in the snow plays just fine.

I'm not running any mods or workshop content, game is a fresh install running on windows 7.

Any ideas? This seems like a slightly different problem than some people are having because its happening on a different loading screen.

You say you didn't install it in a while, did you have a lot of DLC?
If you look at the first screen down left you should see the version number followed by some messages about database and workshop which message causes the freeze

As there is always the possibility that something went wrong downloading and/or installing you might try a file verification, if you are unsure on how to do this check here

I too am having this problem, but my installation was working fine yesterday and this morning (UK time). I think the problem may have arisen this afternoon when on loading the sim, I think it updated to the new hotfix(issued today). This is when the same problem started. Re-installing from steam does not fix the issue.

As I have the paid update I didn't have loading screen issues to begin with, you say this started after the update?
I assume it loaded fine before despite the black screen. Could you do me a favor? rename the file RSSlideshow.swf in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\data\scaleform (this is the loading screen) or move it to desktop for now and start a scenario to see if the problem persists?

I've just done this in response to the same problem, and it hasn't changed anything. Help would be appreciated. Still stuck at the three bullet trains screen, with train noises in the background, alt tabbing working fine, nothing crashing just nothing appearing either.

Same problem too. Was fine until Steam downloaded updates. Tried both on my windows 7 and windows 10 machines but neither will load

Thanks for the suggestion. I realized I many not have been clear in my post. My problem is it hangs during the game launch, the first screen after intro video with the snow. I can't seem to get to the main menu.

I did try to rename the file as you suggested but it made no difference.

Of all the times I've had a problem with a game I've never found that verify game files to help, so I don’t ever do it. However this time I have 1370 files that "will be downloaded". Every time I verify game files I get the same number, it downloads them again and then same thing happens again and again every time I verify.

I am downloading the entire game again right now.

I have tried your suggestion, but all is still the same as described elsewhere. The video introduction plays fine, the screen goes black, and the three bullet trains appear with sound background. However, there are no menu items on this page, so the game is effectively stuck! I only installed the game from a TS2013 disc version earlier yesterday, and so it must have then updated to the 2016 version correctly yesterday, and worked correctlyas I was able to do all of the Academy lessons yesterday and early this morning. I can only conclude that it updated to the hotfix this afternoon, when I started it to try some tutorials, hence the problem. I uninstalled the game and re-downloaded it again, but to no avail.

I am also stuck on the 3 train screen, was working fine now completly broken by update!

If the hotfix is the cause I am afraid I can do nothing. I am sure one of the mods will read this and report it to the devs but I suggest you contact support yourself as well at http://dovetailgames.kayako.com/ . It is no guarentee it will provide you with an answer but at least the problem will be known and how wide spread it is

I have re-downloaded the whole game with no change. Game hangs on the three bullet trains screen and verify game files still comes up with 1370 files to be reacquired.

hAVING EXACTSAME PROBLEM GOES THROUGH INTRO VIDEO THEN TO WHAT IN 2015 WAS THE L=OAD SCREEN WITH THE 3 TAINS AFTER IT SHOULD THEN GO TO THE GA,E MENU AS IT WOULD IN 2015 HOWVER IT SEEMS TO FREEZE ON THIS SCRENN WITH 3 BULLET TRAINS?

Hopefully enough people have this issue that its had the attention of dovetail bit annoying i use this for my work as a signalling engineer and to escape the wife lol
