Trent Valley, specifically the Class 350 EMU.
Why oh why when your driving the 350 EMU, within the specified speed limit, with green signals ahead of you do the units suddenly loose 'power' and grind to a halt ?

This happens to me too. It would appear to be a simulated fault with the train. However this can cause you to be late and lose points, which I think it really unfair. Next time this happens, look at the computer screen inside the drivers cab.

You may be going over a neutral zone.

Well, to both Alloria & StevenJam the situation happens on at least two scenarios, power just goes and the emergancy brakes comer on and you can't re-start it !! :(

Hi rwhdew,

Alloria is correct in that faults are simulated with the train. When this happens look to the screen inside the driver's cab to the upper right as it will tell you what to do. From memory put train into braking, set reverser to neutral - for one of them you need to raise the panto "P".

Whilst in neutral and braking after coming to a stop, set reverser forward and start off as normal.

Thanks Salad. But this can be annoying as it can cause you to be late to stations, and you get penalties because of it.

Cheers Salad, i'll give it a try and see what happens, I thought it might have been the 'neutral' sections like in real-life as I work these units to Scotland out of Manchester Piccadilly but i'll try your idea and see what happens, thank-you :)

I think StevenJam is correct. Neutral Sections show up every 15 or so miles. They are there because the electric supply needs to be changed to a different phase of the national grid.

Check the manual for how to identify these sections and how to drive over them.

Yeah, i'd already worked that out and I was lucky to encounter our Driver working our Train out of Glasgow Central and he confirmed that on the TPE 350's he has to power down. I explained what the 'Steam' scenario's shows and he told me about the signs a driver see's before he approaches them, but there are two, a black one and a white one, i've found the white one but not the black one which is the first he see's! Also, he used to drive the Class 87's, so I picked his brian about them too :)
