Iam unable to even complete the tutorial scenario of this route, i cant understand RETB even after going through the manuals. Is there a way to turn it off. If not. How does it work.
Please explain to me :)

What is it you don't understand, or what's preventing you from completing the scenario?

Have you gone through the tutorial in the "Academy" Section - that is very useful. Another tip is to always look at the top right hand corner of the screen as the instructions on how to RECEIVE OR SEND the token and/or interact with the radio are displayed there. Also in quick dive there is an option to drive without RETB plus SOME WS scenarios. You do need to memorise the cab layout so that you can press the appropriate radio button when prompted (by instructions appearing in the top right hand corner). this is a good background video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mNVF5o9Jgsw, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mNVF5o9Jgsw and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-Q1FuYKgRQ. you can use scenarios using say the Class 156 (which doesn't have have RETB signalling).

Thanks for your reply. But I want career scoring.

Please correct me if Iam wrong. As we approach a station radio call to be made and test token obtained. Next before entering section 'receive token'. Then on leaving station boundries make a call. After clearing the section, send back the token. PHEW !

Doesn't it come up as a popup at the side of the screen what you need to do and when? Or did you need to turn that on? Its been a while since I've drivern this route.

Does it come even in career scenarios. Iam still at tutorial level only :)

Been awhile since I used that one, but if memory serves correct, then there was a Career Scenario that I did that explained how it all worked.

Don't currently have that Route installed, so can't check for you sorry.

Not as you approach a station. When you're stopped at a station.

When a scenario starts you need to obtain and then return a test token (by pressing the make call button on the NRN followed by receive/send on the CDU), to enter the RETB system.

Then you should obtain a token (in the same manner as above) for the section(s) ahead.

You drive to the station shown on the token in the CDU display. Return the existing one and receive a new one for further section (s).

As previously advised, if you watch the prompts in the top right corner of the screen you can't go wrong.

It can be important to watch these prompts, as sometimes it can be counter intuitive as you're asked to press send to actually receive the token.

Hope that helps a bit.

PS You'll sometimes have to change the channel on your journey by pressing any number on the NRN numberpad. Do this once you've passed NRN signs beside the track.

Thank you very much, its clear now.

Glad to have helped.

Just a pointer - one or two of the platforms at token exchange points (TEPs) are very short. So you need to be very careful where you stop your train. You should stop it a short distance from the directional stop board (DSB) but when you do that the game won't permit boarding of passengers, as not enough of the front coach will be on the platform. You'll need ro draw right up to the DSB. I don't recall of the top of my head which station it is, just something to be aware of.

That will avoid frustration when it is expected. All these hurdles, i may feel content with quick drive.
Thanks again :)

That'd be a shame, as the scenarios are very good. You should persevere, it'll fall into place easily. RETB might sound complicated, but once you understand the simplicity it makes driving much easier than under colour lights/semaphore.

Once you have your token you can forget about signals (pretty much), until you reach the next section you need a token for, and just focus on gradients and speed restrictions.

Thats motivating enough. Will sooner or later give it a try and stay glued to it.
