missing texture first loading screen
When I start the game, the first sort of loading screen that comes up before I reach the main menu, (normally it's a picture of some trains) is showing a big yellow/black screen with a white square with Missing Texture in it. Does anyone know how to solve this? checking the missing game files via Steam didn't work...

Open this folder> C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\data\textures\frontend < and see what is in there. This is a screenshot of mine > https://prnt.sc/KUjiymDmGdA1

This is rather odd as you say that verifying game files did not help. One wonders if you verified correctly or if something went wrong while checking / downloading. I would suggest trying to verify game files again, just in case.

I often get the "Missing Texture"window appearing on my screen. However it you wait a short while it will disappear and the game will start correctly .Therefore I suggest that you just ignore it and put it down to one of the many querks of this game....

yes the game starts normally after a few moments, but I still thought it was odd...

Please check your Railworks/Data/Textures/Frontend folder to ensure you have the TSC Splash Screen 32, 64, or 64-bit DX12 Experimental BMP files.

If indeed it was a 'quirk' in the game then surely it would affect everyone equally, would it not? I have never seen this happen on my installation - since 2013!

Like Glenn, I've never seen this either, since 2012.

To the OP. Have you verified your game files correctly?
Close TS and go to main Steam page. Right click TS in your games list then go to "Properties".
On next page click "Installed Files".
Next page select "Verify Integrity of Files", then be PATIENT, do nothing on your PC and let Steam do its thing.
When it's done any faulty files are usually re-acquired straight away, again be patient and wait. Check the "Downloads" section bottom of main page for them to be uploaded.
When done, try TS again.

Hope this helps.

If you are blaming DTG, why hasn't everyone else had the same problem? Have you checked your folders, which I mentioned above, to see if you have no missing files?

stupidly enough, found the solution. When I play i always click 64bit edition. But now I did 64bit directx 12 edition once and the screen is there. So that was my mistake...

Thank's for sharing your solution.

I have also experienced this issue (for several months). TSC starts normally when I select "DX12 64", but there is a missing texture if I start the 32-bit version or 64-bit version. I am not sure what is missing - I have these files in my Railworks/Data/Textures/Frontend folder:
TS Splash Screen x32.bmp
TS Splash Screen x64.bmp
TS2019 Splash Screen x32.bmp
TS2019 Splash Screen x64.bmp
TS2020 Splash Screen x32.bmp
TS2020 Splash Screen x64.bmp
TSC Splash Screen 64-BIT DX12 EXPERIMENTAL.bmp
TSC Splash Screen x32.bmp
TSC Splash Screen x64.bmp

There is nothing missing as I have the same ones. I'm running TSC 64-bit and have no issues with the splash screen.

I also got the yellow and black missing texture message before the game loaded, even after validating the game files.
Initially I uninstalled and installed the game as hadn’t played it for a while, and everything worked fine. I then unticked a few dlc content, which I thought wouldn’t be critical, and installed the updated just trains western expressways reading game. The next time I started the game, it gave me the missing texture error message. I then validated the game files, and it said that 1 files would be acquired. 1 file was then downloaded, but this didn’t fix the issue.
I’ll have a go at trying the alternative x64 version and check for missing splash files.

I want that missing texture, I want to delete the ADS & delay in loading to menu.

1 file = deleted your settings and reset to default.
I wager the ads are in the networking, so your firewall and/or AV are blocking the game from fetching the ads.
