junction switching bug
Hello!
I am building a Romanian route from Adjud to Onești, it's almost only with Romanian assets, but I don't think the problem is caused by them. At the exit of one station I made two junctions, one from the track 1 to track 2 and one from the track 2 to track 1, one after another. In the world editor I set the junctions to be on the dirrect line but when I come with the locomotive they change automatically in a zig-zag, basically it transfers me to the second track and then back to track 1.

I saw that problem at another route (still a romanian one) and if I just looked on the camera 9 at the junctions they don't change. I think they are ashamed because I'm looking at them 😂

Is there any solution to this? I splitted the tracks to "separate" the junctions but still no success. :(

I had this problem with a route that I am building. It's easy to overcome. Go back to the route building mode, and find the section of track between the crossovers - the section of track where you train will not go. On that section place a destination marker - name it whatever you want. When creating your scenario, on the loco' place a 'Stop At Destination' and select the destination marker you just placed in the route. Where it says ' 0 mph ' change the 0 to about 2 or 3 - do not put a tick in the box. Now your Loco' will be forced to take that route and not do the zig zag thing. In fact I have done this in several places within my route.
so there isn't any other solution for those who will want to play in free roam?

Are you not able to change the crossover when in free roam? I.E. Selecting the 'Task' icon and then moving close to the crossover, stopping and changing them by clicking on the arrows down the right of the screen? Maybe then you have used 'Manual Junctions' when building the route? (Small white circle ticked, bottom left corner of the 'Linear Object Tools' panel. If yes, then of course you will need to re-build that section of the route with the small white circle un-selected when laying track. Do not forget that you can't lay crossovers where there are joins in the main track. Also I would suggest that you double check track direction bu pressing the spacebar twice. It can be changed by selecting the section that needs changing and change in the panel that opens on the right of the screen.

oh, sorry for the confusion. I can change them in free roam, but I meant that everytime I come with the loco at speed they change automatically, and yes, if I do the marker trick in the scenario editor the junctions will be good, but if someone wants to play in free roam will need to supervise the junctions to not change the direction.

When in 'free roam' you will very often have to change crossovers manually. This is because there is no set destination when in free roam, so the programme has no way of knowing where or which route you wish to go, so yes, the driver will have to manually set them up, either by pressing '9' on the key-pad and selecting the various blue circles, or by approaching them slowly when driving and selecting the 'task' icon.

That is how Free Roam is designed to work, you should check your route ahead is set.

But here's a tip that may help in specific situations, possibly yours. Use the editor to load the route. Change the position of points to they way you would prefer them by clicking on them in map view. Then save the route.

They should now be set by default as you want them each time you start a Free Roam.

Yup, as above - I could have mentioned that, but then that really defeats the idea of free roam. Might just as well call it a Standard scenario and give it a destination as the end result would be almost the same - With the exception that you follow the set route to start with and then maybe play free roam on the way back home?

This is what I do everytime I play, I set all junctions to the dirrect line and where I want to stop I just change the first junction for the signal to be red. In my case I want the junctions to already be on the dirrect line on the route but they change automatically when I come closer with the train. Also I saw that because I have another junction between them, this somehow disturb the game and change them in a zig zag
