For Those with Just Trains Accounts
I bought 4 items from JT throughout January 2016 and all was great but there is something that isn't so great...

I have just found out that I was billed for them all at once - today (01-01-2016)

They are also on my bank account page listed as JustFlight.

Is this normal practice for JT as it's put me rather in the brown stuff?

i have no idea i mostly use paypall
for online stuff

I may be wrong but didn't JT become independent from Masteronic last year and are probably using a new payment system. It does seem strange in this day and age for payments to be held until the start of the next month but if that's the way it works then that's the way it works.

I'm not concerened about their system, unless you are saying they didn't used to.

I just wondered if anyone could verify if this is the norm as if so then fine - but at least I could purchase and account accordingly.

I have only purchased 4 items in total and they were all this January so I can't look back on previous months outgoings.

Sorry Axe, I was meant to say that it wasn't how it used to work under the old system which was pretty much instant payment

Ahh I did think you were saying that but wasn't too sure - thanks :-)

I've used Just Trains a number of times. Some great stuff, especially when you pick them up in the sales. I generally use PayPal as the payment method, for which the payment is usually taken instantly from my account.
Payments used to be made to Masteronic as PJT says, but more recently they are made to Just Flight.
I guess it depends on the payment method you choose.

Thanks Mick... that explains the JustFlight on my statements.

But I'm determined to find someone who uses a bank card to verify my quiery here :steamhappy:

If I can't I will contact Just Trains though LOL

I think you must verify with JT anyway. Weird at this time in age for payments to be processed at the start of the month. Usually, if paid by check or credit card, the payment must be instant, for the bank to verify payment and if trouble arises, the bank can reprocess the payment, like what happened to Steam during the winter sales.

Thanks General. Will do.

just for info:

Just for info again - I have now contacted JT and they say to expect an email reply within 72 hours. I will post back when I hear something to complete this for anyone in future who may search.

Axe, I know it doesn't help you now but Paypal is really is the best and easiest way for buying and selling on the tinternet. Never had any problems with it.

But its in Dollars!?!

I also applied for PayPal, but cannot get it to convert from Dollars to Rands (ZAR)

Elon Musk, you can kiss my ass! Not having Rands as an option is really absurd in this age.

Still have to pay with cards, way better on Steam, as everything is already shown in ZAR and normally score 30% cheaper for the games sold in the store.

I used to use my PayPal account for when I was selling my lifes acquisitions on Ebay so I could continue to live but as that was a few years ago I haven't had to used is since.

At that time as far as I knew I had to transfer funds from my bank account to my PayPal account and wait for clearance before I could use it. Now I expect things have changed but I have no idea how it all works now. Plus. I don't want to 'try to trust' PayPal which just seems like some sort of useless middleman who charges for it, to me. PP was and still is a security concern I just don't need.

Most of my card payments anywhere online are processed perfectly with no issues so not sure why I would 'need' to use PayPal anyway.

Thanks Cat but why is PP the 'best way'?

One of their e-mails said that they have been having problems with certain payment options which were now resolved. Guessing but maybe that is why you were just billed.

And my family's experience with paypal means I won't touch it with a barge pole.

Thanks Furiey. Like I say my personal experiences with PP are rather old in terms of user experience - which was about 5 years ago. PP at around that time certainly were under scrutiny for security issues regarding personal data etc. Sorry too long ago for me to remember properly.

That is why I am still yet unconvinced they should be accepted any more these days as they were back then. To me they are just another link in the chain which can easily be avoided perhaps also taking into account most of my card purchases are also backed up with a personal code and the usual 3 digit whatsit number.

Not saying that my card details can't be taken eventually as I believe nothing can be secure permanently but I really don't see any reason to allow these hackers another link in the chain to attack.

Its best to use PayPal. This is one of the reasons I rarely use my card to pay for stuff online.
