Where is my TS 2015 content?
I originally purchased the Train Simulator 2014 version here on Steam. Last year, it automatically upgraded to the 2015 version, then recently to the 2016 version. I've been playing a lot recently & have been going through the different manuals in the Manual folder. I came across the Hitachi class 801 manual & want to try out that train but can't find it anywhere in-game. After some research, I found that this train was part of the free content in TS 2015.

My question is this...am I supposed to own this content? If not, is there somewhere where I can purchase it?

If you didn't buy TS2015 I don't think you get the 801, and it is also not for sale unfortunately

though I am not completely sure

Yeah, that's where this game gets confusing. Hey Dovetail, if I don't own the TS 2015 content, don't update my game to display TS 2015 in my Steam library. At this point, I don't know what the hell I own & what I don't. Very confusing system.

You own what you bought, nothing more, nothing less.

I own what's in my Steam Library. If DTG wants to put a game in my Steam Library that displays "Train Simulator 2015: Steam Edition is already in your Steam library", then that is very misleading. On top of that, they include all of the manuals for 2015 content in my Manuals folder. How can you defend that nonsense?

You own Train Simulator 2015, it's a free update, what you don't own is the content that is given to you when you buy Train Simulator 2015. There's nothing wrong with that, it's better than them releasing a new game every year, each with it's own DLC, and no backward compatibility.

You're not entitled to anything other than what you paid for. They've giving you the new features free, you're not entitled to them, they're only doing it out of kindness, you have no right to the other content, as you did not pay for it, but you do have a right to the base game.

besides that it is already TS2016 for several months, if your Steam says 2015 steam edition there is something wrong as TS is currently simply listed in your library as Train Simulator and nothing else if everything would be correct

@SeriousSpy, you're not getting my point at all. If my Train Simulator 2014 suddenly changes over to Train Simulator 2015, then checking the Store Page for Train Simulator 2015, it states "This game is already in your Steam Library". The game even installed Manuals for all of the 2015 content. Why in the hell would I then pay for it? Everything I look at indicates that I own the game. If that's the answer, that they have a piss-poor system of annual upgrade confusion. I don't have a problem paying for content...I just need to know that it's required & now it appears it's not even an option.

@Mavadelo, no, it states TS 2016 now. It's the TS 2015 free content *Hitachi Class 801" for example, that is now missing.

The limitation is partly Steam's. The Steam page for Train Simulator is the same one it's always been. So regardless of which version you bought, you own Train Simulator, and therefore if you go to the page it will say you own the product for that page. What you don't necessarily own is the packages of DLC currently showing on that page - and that's no different from packages of DLC for other games.

Of course it's different, Keith. When part of a game update, such as the Hitachi Class 801 only exists in the base game (that displays you already owning it) and does not exist in any DLC package. It was not handled the same way as the 2016 update, which allows for purchase of the Single Track updates. Every other game in my library is very clear on what content I own & what I don't, what is DLC, etc.

You own everything that appears in your DLC list in the library. That's pretty clear. If you didn't buy Train Sim 2015 while you could, you didn't get the content. It's that simple.

Are you that dense? Obviously there is content that does not exist in any DLC, or show up as a Steam library item. If you think that's a good design, then good for you. I don't. Good day.

It is dumb, but that doesn't entitle you to it. Besides, the 801 is only a prototype version of the existing HS1.

Just for info if it helps anyone.

I bought straight into 2016 with no previous versions but I also bought 3rd party keys for Railworks, 2013, 14 and 15 and I have the 801. Might be a cheaper method of obtaining missing 'yearly upgrade' DLC

I'm trusting I got the 801 from the 2015 upgrade key anyway, and not any other purchased route content.

What third party site did you get the keys off of?
