Searchlight Simulations - AC4400CW Prime/Start Switch
I have just recently come back to Train Sim. I purchased the Searchlight Simulations - AC4400CW back when it first came out and had no problems with running it. Enjoyed its realism. Since coming back, I found out there was a patch for the reverser key. I installed the patch but now I find, after following the procedure to start the engine, the Prime/Start switch behind the panel is non reactive. The cursor over the switch turns into a hand, but the switch does not move at all.

Any suggestions?

I think all you need to do is flip the Isolation switch to run.

The switch is in the Start position but I can not start it. It is not running.

OK, so I tried all sorts of switch positions and replacing the Reg Key but no change in the Prime/Start switch. I'm running a scenario that requires me to start the engine. I brought the Engine Monitor screen up and noticed I had RPM of around 450, but no engine noise. I closed the field CB and moved the Reg to FWD and advanced the throttle and suddenly had noise and amps. So, does this patch that fixed the Reg Key also start the engine? I couldn't start the engine because it is already started???

I don't have the 4400, but I do have the JR SD40-2's and the enhancements from SS.
My advise? Read the manual thoroughly, without jumping from page to page. All SS locos are running by default.

The SD40-2's were enough complex to drive them without reading the manual, so imagine the AC4400CW.

Be advised you must put the isolation switch on the back panel in the start position or you will not be able to enable the prime/start switch. The AC4400 are running by default. If you wish to do a C&D turn off the prime mover by using the stop switch on the back panel. There is also a stop switch located just under the prime/start switch. Best to review the operations manual to familiarize yourself with this locomotive operations characteristics.

Is the reverser in place? There was an update to TSC that fouled up the original start-up procedure. Searchlight Sims came out with an update (it places the reverse in the console) it's verison 1.1.09. available on there site.

Thanks for all the advice. I purchased the CP AC4400CW back in Dec 2021. At that time, scenario starts were the Reg Key was out, and the engine was not running. You had to put the Key in (Shift R), set the CBs lower left of the console, set the switch on the back wall to start, go back and open the doors and prime and start the engine. Sound effects were present for priming and starting. I discovered the requirement for the patch when I couldn't put the Key in. After the patch, the key is in place, and the engine is running, I guess. No sounds indicate the engine is running until I move the throttle.

Oh well. Back to the "Morning After" scenario in the Canadian Rockies trying to get down the hill without loosing control!!!

I've ran that scenario at least ten times and it wins every time! I've reached the final stop signal and it fails me for some reason or another. Very frustrating.
