Previously, TSC allowed "bad" lua scripting, and is seemingly more strict now in terms of sticking to programming guidelines to avoid crashes.
Technically what I have gathered is was mostly incorrect usage of the Initialise() function and/or its parameters in 3rd party scripts.
The developers of affected DLC cooperated with DTG and the issues were fixed to be future-proof (Searchlight Simulation, Smokebox, VirtualRailroads, G-TraX, VNHRR).
Only AHS did not, DTG tried to make contact to no avail, nobody knows where the developer is now. As the scripts are compiled, nobody can fix them except AHS.
I own 90% of the TSC DLC and a lot of 3rd party stuff too, all working very stable and well now, but the AHS 373 and EuroShuttle are the only trains left that's not working after the update.
I heard another developer is currently making a new 373.
Note that you can download any previous version of Train Simulator using a Steam console command, and use that next to your main installation. I have done so, a small core v72.3b installation which only has the Ashford-Lille route installed.
I've written a guide on how to do so here:
