I have the same problem and the fix doesn't work.
I have many add ons installed and I'm affraid to have to reinstall all...
Best regards
David
I lodged a ticked with dovetail, but they only sent me a huge list of obscure things to try before getting back to them.
Why do we have to jump through so many hoops to install a game?
https://dovetailgames.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/80001073799-how-to-fix-the-tsc-menu-crash-after-update
NOTE: Do not do a file verify after you do this, it will undo the changes and revert back to unplayable.
@OP & everybody else: Try removing/renaming "playerprofiles.bin" inside the railworks\content folder. The game will build a new file on the next start of TSC.
Hope it helps. On my end it solved the issue 2/2 times. (1st was my laptop a couple months ago)
Thank you.
That has certainly done the trick.
Thanks heaps.
I received a response from my ticket to dovetail games, and they said that my laptop didn't meet the minimum requirements.
My laptop worked fine prior to the update, but I guess dovetail increased the minimum specs with the updates.
Would have been nice if Dovetail warned me about this, as I wouldn't have updated otherwise.
I'll try and tone done the graphics and see if that helps.
In my humble opinion, just ignore what DTG said, they don't have a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ clue.
Previously, I'd been removing the playerprofile.bin file, but I've also tried leaving it in place, but renaming it.
Unfortunately, this isn't a permanent fix for me, as the game just creates a new playerprofile.bin file and doesn't load on the 2nd attempt.
Thanks for the temporary work around anyway. At least I can access the game.
I live in hope for a permanent solution from DTG.
Wish me luck.
Cheers
Possibly the file corruption only occurs in connection with certain DLCs, and I happened to select one that's intact during my rudimentary "testing".
FWIW yesterday I used the Yellowhead route and was able to re-launch TSC twice, without touching the playerprofiles file.
Glad you're back in the cab.
I'm very relieved I managed to find my back up.
Cheers.
This worked for me!! After an hour of trying stuff this worked best. Thanks all!
