Video Card Purchase
I have the opportunity to purchase one of these 2 cards for the same price, both are used but no negative issues. I only play TSC. RTX 3060 8GB or a RTX 3060 12GB. the specs for the 3060Ti are much better than the 3060 12GB. Your input.

Hello rwaday. If only playing TSC at 1080p reolution and no other games or Sim's, go with the RTX 3060 12GB. Should be fine for TSC at medium-high settings. Or better performing cards around the same price or cheaper like the RX6750XT/RX6700XT with 12GB VRAM.

The latest 4060TI released today, has gone down like a lead balloon with Pro-reviewers all over youtube and the media, DOA with it's poor value for money and 8GB VRAM lack of future proofing. The last gen 3060TI is only around 10% slower.

Don't forget AMD is shortly releasing brand new low to midrange cards and most reviewers stating might be worth waiting to see what they can offer.
Best.

I can pickup either of these cards for around $200.00 US. I just may pick up both and sell the one that I don't use. Someone always needs an inexpensive upgrade. Both are much better than my current 1060 6Gb. Best

Given the fact, that in FullHD TSC requires something around 2 GB of VRAM, both are waste of money and electricity - but it is your money to burn and if they are for the same price, get RTX 3060 Ti 12GB.

12 gigabyte. The more memory on video the better you will be.

Im running a 3050RTX with the 8 gig memory its ok. But am already planning to install one with at 24 gig of memory.

When you have lots of memory on a good video card you only need one. Two at the very most. The days of SLI and Crossfire may be coming to a end.

Hello, Crossfire and SLI already died some years ago, around 2015.
A single powerful mid-range modern GPU will outperform multiple GPU configurations of the past and at 1440p or 4K.
16GB of VRAM on a powerful GPU is enough up to 4K resolutions at the moment into the next few years or more according to game developers. What they don't like is the increasing difficulty of trying to cram modern game textures into 8GB cards as those textures become more complex and numerous. The main reason older 8GB cards and modern 8GB cards are becoming 'unplayable' at higher game settings and 1080p/1440p, or not displaying textures correctly as VRAM runs out in some recent top titles.
Best.

I bought both cards. Such a deal. I installed the RTX3060 8GB card and immediately noticed a 15-20 FR increase with the SS CP AC 4400s. and a noticeable lack of stutter when loading scenery. I will run this for a few days and swap cards to see which one I will keep. Hitting FRs in the 60-70s. I have never been able to do that.

Then you were either running a resolution which you GTX 1060 was unable to handle (which is btw. an information you omit everywhere and if you were running it anywhere above 1920x1080 -or so- you were overloading it),
or you finally configured your system properly,
or we are witnessing prime example of placebo effect.

I was running the 1060 6 GB @ 1920x1080 no overclocking. All I did was swap out the card. I made no other adjustments, and no other changes to hardware. Evidently I possess powers beyond those of mortal man.

Ok, it works for you - and who I am to tell you otherwise?

I am just pretty sure, that we are not privvy to all unknowns it that equation - but again, if it works for you, it is by all means OK.

And as I said previously - no matter what, keep the 3060 Ti.

You will gain FPS dependent on resolution and TSC graphics settings. Low to medium graphics settings granting you the largest FPS increase.

My newest personal PC self-build 5800X/Asus 6800XT OC allows me to now play TSC at 4K with maxed out graphics settings at around 40-120 FPS, dependent on route/traction and camera view-point.

Glad you can see some improved frame rates with your upgrade and will be interesting to see how the other card performs.
Best.

Also of note, I kept all the game settings the same. I also recurved the fan with a more robust fan curve.

Postman just rang the doorbell. My new PC is here, after 12 good years on Win7 and i7-870 + GTX 1050 Ti, my new PC sports an RTX 4070 12GB. Ready for the future :)

First thing I'll do is install Steam and TSC - pretty excited.

Then transferring my full TSC installation files via LAN...
