When TSW Launches it was pretty. That was then. Then its almost like what we already have in TSC except thats its pretty.
I chose not to switch to it.
DTG was bought by a French Company about a month ago and now owns it all lock stock and barrel and there is ongoing improvements to TSC as I type this that has had several patches fixing things for the better.
In short its being updated wherever it can be. Its a very big job.
To the other poster about the CPU speeds, I appreciate the input. Seems if my Grandba had wheels she would be a wagon eh?
Really? You might want to reconsider your setup then bud if that is the case.
I just done a stress test with 3D Mark on my PC just to confirm something... and my Air Cooled i9 9900k (cooled with a Noctua NH-U12A cooler) and with old school air cooling solutions throughout, hit a maximum temperature of 75 degrees while running at a nice 4.75GHz... My CPU is rated to "overclock" to 5GHz I don't know if it ever has, but all I know is that my PC has handled everything I have thrown at it without any issues. People always seem to forget that airflow is just as important as actual cooling. Its all well and good having your AIOs but if there is no exhaust (or not enough) then you're doing naff all as that warm air is just bouncing around warm components getting them all warm.
My PC is literally a "wind tunnel" sucks in cool air from the front and exhausts warm air from the back, and I have made sure there is more than enough ventilation to make sure that all the fans do the job they need to do. And it hasn't let me down for yet.
Anyway back on topic.
It could just simply be a case that there is a currupt file? have you tried verifying the files to make sure it all runs, I just use the default Steam Launcher where it asks me what version I want to run and set that as default, and haven't run into any problems.
Then again I will state are you giving it a chance or are you noticing that the icon is on the taskbar and that is it? It does take my version a while to "boot up" so to speak but it does it in the end. I assume this isn't the case right.
I did used to use a shortcut to the 64bit exe, the other option is backing up your railworks.exe file (railworks_old.exe) and then renaming the 64bit exe to railworks.exe. again I done this and it worked great before the above solution came along to steam at least.
If it is that the exe isn't running properly then it does sound like you may have a problem with the install as that should work fine.
I had an "out of memory" error in 64BIT mode the other day, and I have 64GBs of RAM. I think some of the assets/units are a little on the buggy side and cause what was known as a "memory leak" and this is what causes the "out of memory" error, I don't know for sure, but it happened everytime for me when I try to put down a certain unit under certain conditions in the editor - normally if I have had the game running for a while and go back and forth from editor to gameplay.
I run my last gen 5800X at around 4.9 Ghz boost after Curve Optimisation and PBO, no problems at all and cooled by an Arctic Liquid Freezer II 280 AIO. Highest temperature I have ever seen after an hour of intensive CPU stress testing was 76C.
CPU (and GPU) processing speed development has moved on vastly over the last five years and shows no sign of slowing.
Best.
The vast majority of OOM's are caused by a mismatch between TSC loaded into the virtual address space (VAS) and the Physical RAM resulting in an "Invalid Page Fault".
Way back when TS2018 64-bit was introduced there was an issue with openAL.dll and this stopped the 64-bit version loading. Check that you have a 64-bit version in E:\STEAM\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Install\OpenAL, dated around 2022.
Sometimes you also need to have a 64-bit version installed in the E:\STEAM\steamapps\common\RailWorks folder.' so you could copy the dll file from the install folder shown above.
Google train simulator and openal.dll - it may help.
There was NEVER an issue with page fault / out of memory in Train Simulator. This is a persisting myth. If there was such an error, it would be caught by Windows.
As DTG's Steve Dark stated this "OOM" message was simply the ONLY error message that was coded into the game, appearing whenever something goes wrong - and mostly the reason are bad assets - or running a route that requires 64bit on 32bit.
Also you should NOT run the obsolete "Setup_audio.bat" - which was only intended for TS2019. The OpenAL.dlls which get installed by this batch file are also OBSOLETE and could cause further issues. They will be removed in an upcoming update - DTG had just left them in the depot 24009. The correct OpenAL.dlls are already present in the root RailWorks folder.
You may have mis read me – LOL! The page fault I was referring to was because of the way that Windows utilises data. For the past 30+ years Windows has loaded every piece of software including TS into its Virtual Address Space (VAS) which means if the software crashes it doesn’t also crash Windows. Windows loads data into the VAS in 4K pages and then as you run the software these pages are loaded into the same addresses (via the MMU, etc) into exactly the same addresses in the Physical RAM as part of the Working Set. Now if there is a mismatch between the VAS and RAM, several things could happen. If the mismatch is easily recovered and there is no need to re-access the VAS – soft page fault – little or no stutter, If there is a need to re-access the VAS – Hard Page Fault – stutter, If there is a total mismatch between the VAS and RAM that is unrecoverable – Invalid Page Fault – OOM (TSC crashes). The latter can occur if the RAM address some TSC data (particularly when editing TSC) is if that address is already occupied, invalid, corrupt, not allowed, etc etc – invalid page fault – OOM! So it could be that if an asset has already occupied addresses in the RAM and another asset ( maybe corrupt) tries to occupy the same address – major error OOM).
64-bit addresses are much more precise, accurate the 32-bit addresses and so care is needed when allowing software (Especially originally written in 32-bit) to access them. There are many reasons why TSC might crash but the above is a major reason.
WRT OpenAL.dll I was merely pointing out that in 2028 when 64-bit was introduced it was an issue in starting 64-bit TS2018, and I was wondering if it had reared its ugly head again. I only asked simmers to check it was present in either of 2 places and carry out a simple copy if it wasn’t (nothing had solved the issue thus far). Now that you have re-assured us that it is no longer an issue then there is no need to check anything.
My turbo stays off, my stock speed is 4ghz, good enough for the games I play or most of those on the market.
By build I don't mean editing but gathering existing stock, thus errors produced.
Understandably, there does appear to be many with older hardware running under high loads and lower overall temperatures and clock speeds, who assume those with high CPU temperatures around 90C or even higher in the case of modern intel CPU's, must be experiencing cooling problems of some sort.
This is not the case when running latest generation higher end CPU's, they are designed to cope 24/7 with much higher temperatures under high loads before thermal throttling takes place.
A modern latest generations CPU hitting 90C or above, in the case of intel, during intensive work loads is normal CPU operation.
Best.
many thanks for your help but still does not work, i change the name of railwork64.exe into railwork.exe and still not working, add the railworks64 to nvidia tools too , nothing, verifying file nothing wrong check my firewall everything still not working, uninstall install nothin, without any dlc nothing,
i doubt on DX but i install every version and still nothin
i tried to install the game on my old laptop from 2015 and it launches 32 and 64 it works well , but that laptop is too old so i cannot use it properly.
i found a crashlog file :

"Railworks.exe" is the name of the default 32.bit system so you will have 2 of them.
Hope this helps.
