Joystick API, or maybe something else questions
A few weeks ago I installed the joystick API softwhere, it worked but only for a couple of american trains.

I have a HOTAS Warthog joystick and rudder petals, I would like to use it instead of buying a raildriver, But i see even some guys cant even use the raildriver for some trains cause of the complicated throttle systems on some of these trains.

My question is, are you guys using the joystick API softwhere and does it work for other trains? if so, what are your settings?

I am sure you can use it with other trains (I hope) but getting the settings right is the problem. I have watched the tutorial video but it does not cover everything.

My other question is, is there something better to get these trains to work with an axis. I really only want it for the throttle and breaks, everything else I can work from the cab.

I use excellent TrainSim Helper software (by Havner from Railworks America forum). It also has great HUD feature:)

looking at this, the instructions says there is an .exe file in the package, I dont see one and it looks complicated to get it working. I was hoping there was a youtube video to clarafy a few things, there is one but its in spanish. Is it hard to get it working?

Does your joystick come with customization software? Most do. For instance, with my Logitech, I can open up the josticks software and actually create a custom profile for each game I want to play. Then I assign the relevant controls to the stick and button. I couldn't get the stick working as a dual power control, but a combined throttle/brake isn't a feature on lots of train anyways, so I assigned my brake controls to buttons. I made the stick forward correspond to 'A' and the stick backward correspond to 'D'. I had other buttons (not sure if you have other buttons to assign) for the two reverser keys, one to load/unload, one to 'Q' for alerter resets, and the trigger I had to the horn 'Spacebar'. This is a pretty good way to get it working. I don't really know about running a script type program to do it for you -- it seems it would be rather difficult to get working to match up all different joysticks. Plus, I recommend changing the joystick's settings with their software because then you'll know how to do it for other games too. Good luck.
