Wow, only just seen this, If they are anything like the ones they produce to go with DLC then that is a shocking ripoff!

Unless youre someone who gets off by getting XP points, look in the workshop, there is far better talent there for FREE.
You also need Sheman Hill and the WP Highnose GP20 for them to work.I'm making my own scenarios for Feather River.
Had DTG given any consideration to the many longtime users that have rightfully objected to the dwindling quality and quantity of included scenarios in their DLC, they might have realized what a callous slap-in-the-face this is, even if it is an offering by a third-party in the "marketplace."

If you don't want them don't buy them. Actually they are not done by DTG but by a third party. Trains & Drivers sell scenario packs too http://www.trains-and-drivers.net/epages/63266424.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/63266424/Categories/Szenarien If you look around the net you will find other sites selling scenarios too.

These are from Elphaba, who also does freeware, I purchased them, cheap enough, and I don't write my own

Elphaba hands-down makes great scenarios and for his workshop items I'm very grateful, since I don't make my own scenarios, either. It's also nice to see Elphaba got to the point where he can profit from his hobby. That said, when DTG publishes the DLC, it almost seems to me they're cherry-picking the best scenarios (and perhaps authors) in attempt to monetize the workshop (which did not go well the last time Steam tried that).

I bought scenario packs from Armstrong Powerhouse and 3dzug. AP PDL scenario pack is of a quality comparable to average Workshop scenarios - wasted money. 3dzug scenarios are excellent and have added value of voice announcements.

The main reason to have scenarios available through the Marketplace is possibility to use additional assets (eg sounds). I don't know if this is the case though.
Wow, thats overpriced as hell.

3dzug scenario packs are €10 too, AP packs are £5.
I've nothing against DTG doing scenario packs, in fact I see it as quite positive if they're decent That's going to be the big if!. They have serious competition from 3rd party scenario pack sellers and many of the highly talented Workshop creators, who currently create some great scenarios for the game.

My fear is the DTG scenarios (like the default ones that come with their routes and loco add-ons) may have a miserable variation of both AI traffic, and task types. Driving a long A-B scenario seeing just one other train type is rather demoralising to say the least; completely unrealistic and not how it was in the early days of Railworks, where RSC scenarios used far more diverse rolling stock, and really mixed-up the driving activities.

So I guess we just have to wait and see for the reviews (ot these new packs) to come in. If interesting great. If dull then forget it!
I see this as a good way to ensure this current engine is supported in the future - I have bought several scenario packs from many third party sites over the years form Armstrong Powerhouse, Train and Driver, work as a beta tester for Golden Goldsmith Scenarios. By allowing people like Elphaha to be able to monetize their efforts is a good thing, rewarding them for their efforts, encouraging them to continue to support this simulation. The more groups you have that are making money supporting this current simulation, the longer it will be supported.

I run a lot of the workshop scenarios as well, but like I said, see this development as a good thing for the community - there are several authors I would like to see join in so I could support their fine efforts with a my pocketbook.

As for the cost - I find it reasonable - I have spent time trying to make decent and engaging scenarios and failed miserably. It is a lot of work. The amount of time I spend beta-testing for Golden Goldsmith Scenarios is well into the hundred hour mark and I am sure the developer is well into the several hundreds of hours over the past couple of years.

In fact I would even support the workshop allowing donations so we , as players, could reward the efforts of those who dedicate the hours in development and share for our entertainment.
The problem is and the main reason that so many object to something like this is NOT because we think all scenarios should be free and that scenario packs shouldnt exist, its because DTG are now publishing these when there are LOADS of broken scenarios that DTG have published before that they simply cant be bothered to fix. 'Running The Manor' on the Norfolk Southern route is a good example, theres a static loco dumped in your path at the beginning blocking your route and you have to physically push the damn thing out of the way! For the same company who lets crap like that through it's quality control to release a payware scenario pack is frankly, laughable and all long term players know that there are tons of scenarios over the years that have things broken or are impossible ot complete properly. Doesnt matter that they might have been written by someone else, they have the DTG name on it. It's like putting ISIS in charge of airport security!!!
That explains why Elphaba has not released any workshop scenarios lately. I proberly will buy these. Love the Feather river route, and I spend more than $10 at Starbucks each moring, and that only last me an hour.
Thats one way of looking at it and its your money but still, its a shame DTG chose to charge nearly TWICE what most other scenario packs tend to cost from publishers like Just Trains and Armstrong Powerhouse.

Totally agree.

When DTG release a new route, it would be great if there were say at least 20 scenarios that were as well written as the ones here that are being sold.

But anyway, it is just so easy to push the buy button on steam. My wife lets me know about it each and everytime btw after her daily check of our banking account......
