"Please Login to Steam" Error
Anyone ever got this? I just started getting this today with TS2016. Nothing I do seems to work. Fresh reboot, running Online, running Offline I even tried the verify integrity of local cache option, no go. My other Steam games like FSX-SE works fine. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thank You
Edit: Just noticed there was man update today, could be the issue?

I've got the same with TS2014....my boy's very frustrated with it (and so am I!)

One thing that you can try is to change your download server. This helps when your normal server has issues. Change back when the problem is resolved. Go to Steam>settings>downloads and chenge to another reigon that is close.

Thanks, I just tried the New York and Charlotte servers (Miami was my current one) and still can't run TS2016. Checked timestamp of the exe file and it was updated today, so it'looks like the update was applied.

I just did a complete uninstall and reinstall of TS2016, and still get the same error.

I have the same problem, too. I've had it for over 3 weeks now! I'm very baffled about why!

log out of steam and then re log in to steam. If not try booting up train simulator from the Railworks.exe file located in the railworks directory.

Thanks, but those were the first things I tried, I think I'm out of self help remedies at this point, so I just submitted a support ticket, hopefully DTG can fix this, or tell me how.

Can you play TS offline?

Found a "check for steam client updates" menu item, did this, pulled across 60MB of update and now runs.

Fed up with steam's updates....at this this wasn't a 1GB update that takes literally hours....

I would recommend contacting Steam. I doubt DTG will be able to help with an issue logging into software by another vendor.

DTG advised the same thing, and I put in a ticket with Steam Support. Haven't heard back from them yet. The problem started after the TS2016 update yesterday, and all my other Steam programs and DLC run fine, so I'm not convinced that this isn't more a DTG issue, caused by the update. Some in this thread are saying they have the same problem.

Here's the message I got from Steam Support.

"Please exit Steam and go to the folder called C:\Program Files\Steam\ (this is the default location for a Steam installation - if you set a different installation directory, you will need to browse to it).

Delete all of the files in this folder except:

- Steamapps and Userdata folders

- Steam.exe (this file is listed as an application and features the blue and white Steam logo)

Restart your computer.

Then, launch Steam.exe from within the Steam installation folder, and not from a pre-existing shortcut.

With Steam running, re-test the original issue.

Note: This process will not affect your currently installed games.

If the issue persists, make sure your network is optimized for Steam by following the guide below:

I had the same problem I ran the advice from DMGIBBS1997 and it worked OK

Thanks dmgibbs1997, lenash4 that did it! Plus another problem I have had "Missing DLC in DLC list on my Steam page" also appears to be fixed. Now all my purchased DLC is listed again!! Thanks also to everyone else who tried to help, it's appreciated.
