What version of Train Sim do I have
I purchased Railworks on CD way back in 2009.

After five years away from the game I've just returned. However, through Steam I now seem to have Train Simulator rather than Railworks.

There also seems to be different versions of Train Simulator - 2014, 2016 etc.

Is there a way that I can tell which version I am running?

You're running the latest engine, ie internal TS code, but still only own content that was included in your initial purchase.

As skinnyraf says you will be using the free upgrade of TS 2016 (core engine), if you want the full version of TS 2016 with its included routes, locos, upgraded user interface etc you will need to buy one of the TS2016 versions.

You could even buy earlier versions such as TS 2014, 2015 also if you wanted the included routes, locos with those versions. Thats if you can find them and obviously with an included unused Steam activation code, they will integrate into the version of TS that you are currently using.

Thanks for that. But, I'm still a little confused.

If I buy an add-on, what do I look for? Some seem to work with TS2014 others TS2016.

So, for example, will a route that says TS2016 work with what I have ?

Yes. Any addons currently on sale for any version of Train Simulator will work. (Or shouldn't be on sale!)
