Also, how would one go about removing the workshop items, unless you mean unsubscribing from them?
Intel 5500? You using a laptop? Does it have a dedicated graphics card?
It's worked fine until last week.
@rwday: is there another way besides logging on to Train Simulator & going to the menu that way, as I can't get to the menu the regular way?
Odd, you say the game worked fine before? But you listed Intel 5500 as your graphics. Intel 5500 is an integrated graphics, not dedicated. Dedicated graphics will be something like NVidia or AMD Radeon.
You say the game keep freezing, may I ask where exactly does the game freeze? Is it in the menu screen or while driving your train?
It's the screen before the video highlighting TS 2017.
it did the same in 2016 TS
For normal computer use and video playback etc, your machine will work well, however it is not intended as a proper gaming machine, it may handle a few much less demanding older games and light modern games. Unfortunately, your system won't have the much larger memory bandwith required to play TS2017 without problems and random crashes.
TS 2017 is very demanding of both cpu and gpu and requires as much memory bandwith as possible. Low memory bandwith will cause crashes or freezing as you describe.
Sorry to bring you bad news.
Best.
That a mobile i5, actually and it has been common (and borderline fradulent) practice from Intel to sell dual core CPUs with HT (and turbo) as i5s and even as i7s.
And that graphiocs, that is the Intel "Iris Pro" IGP - while it has dedicated framebuffer memory, so it is not extremely bandwith challenged like other IGPs from Intel, it still lacks any dedicated texture, geometry etc. memory and has to place them in main memory - and we are missing information in this regard, it is pretty much possible that the machine in question simply runs out of memory when playing TS2017.
Agree, doucy of Intel to sell i5 or i7 with 2 cores. Always read the technical sheet on any new computer! When AMD Zen will come out, I'm going to switch over from my old i5-3330 to the new AMD 8 core.
It is not and never was intended to be a full blown heavy intensive gaming cpu playing demanding games like TS2017. Lighter undemanding gaming with lowered settings, yes, heavy graphics demanding gaming, no.
Some may well not realise that though and will get problems, as our friend here has found.
There is nothing 'dodgy' about developing cpu's to function more effectivly within the applications, including multimedia, they are intended for.
Regards.
To run the chkdsk of the OS. For more information, please search on the Internet.
TS2017 startup, always hold the state to press the ESC.
If you get a menu, turn off the intro video in the configuration.
Best.
Sorry, but this makes no sense. OP computer does not have enough computing power to run this game smoothly, but insufficient CPU/GPU will cause slowdowns, not outright crashes.
This game hardly utilizes any advanced instruction sets (which indeed could cause crashes), I suspect, that the most advanced instruction set supported by this game is SSE1 and that is the last century technology, literally - every CPU made in last 10+ years supports this tehcnology and even mobile version of i5 does
There is something else at play here and my prime suspect is the RAM capacity coupled with Intel rather mediocre IGP drivers.
P.S. I my previous post I was merely reffering to the fact, that Intel sells under the very same marketing designation vastly different CPUs - nothing else.
