What are the differences in the simulator in 2017 from 2016?
I was really hoping for 2017 to be completely rewritten with the UE4 engine, but that doesn't appear to have happened. Graphics settings are the same as 2016. The update Steam pushed was quite small, so this looks like a 'dressing up' of 2016 and some new routes were made. Is the update to UE4 dead?

Train Sim World is the new UE4 Game coming out in February 2017. It will not have backwards compatibility with your old addons.

You buy TS2017 now, you get 4 or 5 routes. In February you buy another game called TSW. So you buy two games within six months.

Have there been any changes made to 2017? Still getting really bad framerates in the North Jersey Coast route, and appears that issues from 2016 are still happening in 2017 - like scenery caching/loading every few seconds causes stuttering. Geez what a disappointment.

No I don't believe it's TS2017 the cause of problems here. The 'new' version of the game (with the exception of some minor cosmetic tweaks to menus & different intro video) is essentially TS2016, with simply 4-5 new routes included for those that didn't already have them. There's nothing that has been changed that would affect performance. Certainly for myself and other close friends the new version is running very well.

However, if you're having problems specifically with the NJCL route, then that's quite common for many players. Graphically it's an extremely demanding route on most player's PC hardware; and is known for its slow frame rates. Quite a lot of players have problems with FPS and lag playing this particular route, when the majority of their other routes may be fine. I also had problems with this one until I upgraded to a Titan X 12GB graphics card! I can only suggest when playing this particular route you turn down some of your game's advanced graphical settings. Lowering shadows by at least half, and also reducing AA are quite likely to give you a signficant improvement in FPS for the route; at least to the extent where its playable, even if a bit slow. Good luck. All the best.

I cannot believe that ppl are still confusing TS2017 with TSW. Don't ppl read and comprehend information anymore?

It certainly does question the IQ level of some people. Or maybe it's just sheer laziness i.e. cant't be bothered to have a 'proper' read - bit like those people that never read the instructions and then complain they can't make something work.

Honestly, even my 9 year old grand-daughter figured it out!

Im starting to think 90% of these are just put up for a laugh

In fact I hope so; otherwise the world must really be getting less and less intelligent by the day

A worrying thought !

Do you mean the Maxwell or Pascal version?
Very odd decision by nVidia to give them the same name. Titan -> Titan Black / Titan Z -> Titan X -> Titan X... Non sequitur. Your facts are uncoordinated

P.S.: yes I know the Maxwell was 'Geforce GTX Titan X', and Pascal is just 'Titan X', but still!

Maxwell, my m8 Growler bought it off me. One left to sell :)

Ah well it should still be quite a piece!

To be honest i run 2xGTX 1080's now and the fps on some of the routes that seem to be capped by cpu performance are not any higher than using one Titan X or one 1080 (such as New York - New Haven), but the faster card or cards allows me to up the AA settings a bit more and still get the same fps on a cpu capped route. But a v1 Titan X definately runs TS great.

Does SLI work with TS? How does it scale? I used to have a Crossfire setup which only provided negative scaling for this...
Budge4 Sep 17, 2016 @ 6:32am
It does use SLI ok, never had a problem, but it doesnt scale brilliantly, on a route that isnt cpu capped i may get about 85 fps with one GTX 1080 and 110 fps with two, thats at 2560x1440 and graphics, AA, etc pretty well maxed out.

Then using them on a cpu capped route can bring fps down into the mid 40's with all the same maxed out settings, thats using 1 or 2 1080's. Even if i lower the AA on these cpu capped routes i still get in the mid 40's
