theres no real long long routes

London Kings Cross to Edinburgh East Coast Main line merge. You will need to have all the requirements and a ATS subscription to download.

Out of interest...I am assuming their must have been driver changes on that route as that is a heck of a long route to learn and drive in one go...would I be correct?
I know my old Dad would fire on the LNER into and out of London and he lived in Manchester at the time (50's) but Edinburgh is a good deal further.

In reality on the ECML drivers would start at say Kings Cross and head north and be relieved at York or Leeds for another driver.

LNER non-stop steam-hauled Flying Scotsman services between London King’s Cross and Edinbugh Waverley utilised corridor tenders[en.wikipedia.org] to allow on-line locomotive crew changeovers, as 8½ hours was definitely too long for one crew.

It’s not really free when you need to own all the routes it combines.
