Train simulator not loading
Hi guys,i was using TS a couple of days ago without any problems,went to use it today,i press play,then play in 64bit,my screen goes blank for a couple of seconds which it never used to do then returns to the start screen with the 3 trains,it says TS is running in green and there is a small white rectangular box in the middle of the screen,all i get now is the small blue turning cursor wheel and thats it,The only way i can get out of TS is to sign out on my computer and then sign back in,
I have let its do its thing for half hour or so in case its downloading updates or something but nothing changes,i have to sign out.
Im not very tech minded but after doing a bit of research on here i found something mentioning graphics settings and player profile bin file in the Railworks contents folder.
The player profile bin file is not present in the content folder,I checked to see if there were any windows updates available,their were 3 which i downloaded but its made no difference.
I really dont understand why this has happened as i have not touched anything or downloaded any workshop items,
I dont know if this is relevant or not but i use a 50 inch Lcd Tv as my monitor and the windows settings are both set on recommended,ive been using this Tv as my monitor for the 3 years without any problems.
Also i have 4 other games in Steam that all run fine.,so why just TS
Any help or advice would be much appreciated

"he only way i can get out of TS is to sign out on my computer and then sign back in," What about using Task Manager (Ctrl ALt Del to access) to end TS rather than signing out of your PC altogether? I can't help with why the sim doesn't load, but task manager should be a quicker method for trying to reload TS.

Hi there ive tried, when i push ctrl alt del it goes to task manager i still have the blue circle cursor turning and it will not let me end programs hence why i use sign out,

Hi Gareth CTRL+ALT+DELETE should work if your on windows 10

it don't matter what you use, i have a ferguson 58" TV 4k 2020 Model and it works fine on mine...

And if that does nothing within this guide there is a small Java applet that will get to the bottom of it it is very safe to use... and will find as to why your TS files are not loading properly...

Go into Railworks Folder scroll down till you see a File Called LogMate.exe Open by double clicking it...
Leave LogMate on Desktop whilst you run steam Start up Steam and when it comes up right click TS
select properties and the general window pops up, at the bottom remove -Fastload and put in this file

-LogMate -SetLogFilters=all

When you done that close steam
On LogMate press New File then close
Press Flush file
Re-open Steam

Now run TS...

What LogMate will do, it takes a couple of minutes, but it will give you the errors some from Steam workshop, any errors you get are simple and corrupted files as well.
When TS dumps back to the Desktop open LogMate...it will give you whatever you have done wrong if it comes up with anything that is corrupt then delete it...

If you delete Player profile Bin and do a verify it will replace it...MAKE SURE YOU BACK UP YOUR RAILWORKS FOLDER OK

Hi there i tried doing the Logmate,started TS then it just does the round blue cursor then thats it, i signed out as ctrl alt del wont let me do it with task manager and LogMate had gone off my desktop,ive just verified all the game files took about an hour,looked in my Railworks/Content folder and theirs no player profile bin file,im really hoping i dont have to do a complete reinstall of TS

Not sure if this makes any difference but my Railworks Folder is installed on a SSD external drive,

I've run into this but it was a crash during play. If you change the settings so that TS runs in a borderless window you should be able to bring the Task Manager up in front of it even under the same circumstances. Of course to change the settings you need to actually get TS working again... Meanwhile have you tried starting Task Manager so it's already running and available to Alt-Tab to when things go wrong?

That is odd since, if there isn't one, making a new one is almost the first thing TS should do. Have you tried doing a search for it? The exact filename is PlayerProfiles.bin.

Do you see any of the notes to the bottom left of the loading screen? If so which one is showing when TS falls over?

Hi Tim cant see anything in bottom left,as soon as i click play 64bit it just locks up,and yes tried a search of my railworks folder with no results found,
It just seems really strange that you can finish using the game all shut down properly by exiting Steam,then next you fire it up you have these problems,

You say

Where was it (playerprofiles.bin) then - exactly? If that is not present in the Railworks\Content folder you may have a "corrupt" install - TS doesn't work too well if it has missing files.

So what was the outcome of this? I do hope the OP doesn't leave this thread to fester with the hundreds of other problem threads that just seem to die off without any sort of update because it's not helpful to people that may also come across this problem.

Hi thanks everyone for your help and advice,i ended up doing a clean install,took 5 hours,very annoying as i have a lot of 3rd party Dlc to also reinstall,everything seems to be working ok again now until the next time,i just wish i knew what caused it so i could maybe take precautions to prevent it happening again.
