AI train crashes ending game
OK, this has gone far enough. DT pushes update > update causes false AV readings > AI crashes end games.
This is something that needs to be fixed by DT games. It is rendering the game unplayable.

EDIT: The solution is to go in to builder, find the train in question and remove it. I had played all these previous to the update without issue so I still blame the update.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe AI crashes have been occurring on occasion for years - certainly before the latest update. I know there are glitches with some scenarios but normally these are caused by those who write them overlooking certain possible train routing and timetabling conflicts. They can normally be corrected by cloning and editing the scenario in question.

I have been running TS since TS2019, this is the 1st time I have ever seen it, it happens every time on Chicago racetrack, no matter what scenario I use. It is definitely caused by the update. I used the scenarios before the update, now they all fail. Every. Time.

All I can suggest is get a note of what the trains causing the problem are and then take the time to watch the AI trains in question on the map. Play normally until close to the point where it happens. If it's a collision, there is some kind of issue with the trains. If it's something like a train jumping the tracks, it could possibly be an update on the route causing the issue (especially across multiple scenarios). You can also change which version of TS you are using and see if that helps. Worst case scenario, take video of the incident occurring and see if you can get help with that by uploading it to your Youtube (you can unlist it and link it here).

By the way, do you clear your cache? If not, do that. Something might be hiding in there.

AI collisions are a very old problem, and most can be fixed by clearing cache.

You did not receive a 16 MB upgrade from March 2?

I have encountered this problem with the Cajon Pass DLC. The scenario is Cement Snoot, which I believe is one of the standard scenarios that are a part of the Cajon Pass DLC; not a Workshop third-party scenario. The scenario repeatedly crashes with an AI "event" elsewhere on the railroad (away from my train).

The 2D does not always replicate what happens in game at all .

Are you taking "in general" or just for some specific route/scenario ?

I just ran this out of curiousity to see where it crashes, heres the fix. If you're comfortable with editing go in to tht cement snoot scenario. Look for the BNSF Triple Head Mixed, when you click on the ZOOM TO TRAIN icon you'll see it's routed through the yard on BARSTOW EAST YARD 7, and theres a static train already there and thats where the crash happens. I chose to add a destination marker for BARSTOW EAST YARD 8 and that solved the crash issue. You can either reroute the AI or remove the static. Also, keep in mind the AI starts very late so you won't see it as you pull in to Barstow.

Thanks, ndounseroux62. Since this is a standard scenario provided with the DLC, the developers of the Cajon Pass DLC should have tested their work and caught that error before the DLC was put on sale. Not to "vet" their scenarios to catch such blunders before selling them is... well, you can provide your own description. Forum rules here will not let me provide mine. At least now that the error is out in the open, the developers have a responsibility to correct their DLC and reissue it. Wanna bet it happens?

No problem, I've been getting a lot of practice chasing crashes on my own route I'm working on. Just remember when the crash comes up, just take note of the location.

Actually, I have Cajon Pass and am not familiar with a scenario called Cement Snoot. The default scenarios are:

- A Thorny Matter
- Arriving East
- Barstow Backlog
- Be Prepared
- Cajon Pass
- Full Up
- Relief Freight
- Short, Sharp Shunt
- Slow Climb South
- The Splitter
- Thorn Reversal
- Spring Break (Career)

Source: Cajon Pass manual and the Railworks 2 manual (where it's known as Barstow to San Bernardino).

So let's check the DLC I can find, most from BNSF products and which I literally obtained manuals for yesterday for research purposes for something else. I will now use them herein.

From the GP9 Loco Pack:
- Switch Off
- Cutting Under the Clouds

From the SD70 V2:
- SD70s at Barstow (Free Roam)
- Four Minutes of Fun
- Return of the Mac
- Race to the Summit

From the SW1500 Switcher:
- Light Switch (Free Roam)
- Supplier Switch (Free Roam)
- Mobile Switcher

Hmm, that's three DLC down. Let's keep going.

From the ATSF SD45-2
- Raining Over Cajon Pass
- A Short Train
- Coal to Barstow
- Collecting Goods

From the Dash9 pack (which includes a Canadian one, I am salty):
- Dash9s at Victorville (Free Roam)
- Digging the Pass
- Dash to Lenwood
- Climbing Over Cajon

From the BNSF SD75M/I:
- Climbing Sullivan's Curve
- Glass Company Exports
- Held Up By the Highwaymen
- Not Always Sunny in California
- Out to Needles

I'd say that's a pretty thorough review. I'm pretty sure, unless there's a DLC I have not seen a manual for yet (maybe the Santa Fe at stub 24057?), that you might not have an official scenario. Would you like to investigate further and get back to us? Thanks. :winter2019joyfultearsdog:

As an aside, I am trusting it's an official scenario. I found a thread from 2010 asking about this same AI collision. I can just confirm it's not part of any of the packs I've named. It could very well also be in the ES44AC/SD40-2 combo pack at stub 24012, which is the first official DLC for Train Simulator based on that numbering. It would make sense, and I don't think I have that manual.

Perhaps this can help. The scenario is listed as an official scenario with the complete title "[BNSF1] Cement Snoot".

Thanks, Cyclone, for your detective efforts. Much appreciated!

If it is an official scenario, then I can reasonably assume that I paid for it somewhere along the line as part of a DLC (as opposed to getting it free from the Workshop). Developers that get paid for their work have a responsibility to provide work that works. That is my opinion, at least.
