That would be way to easy!!!!
Just to clarify; the developers who work on content for this game, both DTG and 3rd part, are people like you and me. Like you and me, they need to pay the bills somehow, and that means being paid. They can't be paid unless the company has money, and for that they need to sell things to make money. Each of these DLCs takes time and a lot of work to make.
So when you complain about pricing, remember that. Besides, there's mountains of stuff available online for free if you know where to look.
Some have a mix of free- and payware, so look around.

There are plenty of freeware addons you can get from both the workshop and 3rd party sites, but locomotives, enhancements, routes they take hundreds, if not thousands of hours to make and i dont know about you but i wouldnt want to make a real world route for free. The same goes for flight simulators, it takes time to make airport scenery, or aircraft. If you dont like it then you should just make it yourself
For instance, the Stainmore, Shap and Eden Valley route took a team of more than 20 people to make and took six years from start to finish. Given how massive the route is and how much detail is packed into it, not to mention you get mountains of rolling stock including three engines you can't get anywhere else, the £29.50 price tag is more than reasonable.
As for the repaints @tixconhon2, there are various fansites like rail-sim.de, railsim.fr, railworksamerica, Dpsimulation, ukts, Alanthomsonsim and others around to help you out, they have some great stuff for free.
Soundpacks, well there are a few free ones, and a lot of good payware ones, although AP sadly culls their soundpacks for the new Enhancement packs. (love those, but it's a bit sad that the default ones get no improvement anymore.)
Probably not even close to their other games though, e.g. Fifa, Madden, Battlefield, Need for Speed and others :P
And honestly, I'm happy that it's not EA running the show, because if you look at those other games you can imagine how much worse it would be.......
I rather just like let them get workshop so it wouldnt be that hard
cause i dont trust and i dont know how to mod stuff
I want it and I want it now. Don't you dare ask for money, just give it to me. Gimmee, gimmee, gimmeee now.....
When will people learn that nothing in life is free?
Had a quick look at DTG's filings and it's not such a sad story, from a business point of view it looks like there's little to change so I daresay the answer to the opening statement of this thread is 'nahhhh!'. The 'EA'-esque model seems to be doing the job.
Everything appears cool, despite the whinging.
And if you're being whinged at by people who aren't even potential business (i.e they'd never spend some money) is it really lost business to not listen? There ain't no penalty
