XC withdrawal.
Well folks it's time again for another franchise to come down from TS with Cross Country on the way out. The XC 220 and Cornish are on sale until their withdrawal date.

Kinda surprised the Class 170 add-on isn't part of this as it also has the Cross Country livery included.
It has no branding
I wonder if this will be a cost cutting trend. Cheaper DLC by not having to pay royalties or just the normal cycle of retirement. Somebody out there may make a replacement for this.If it is distributed for free there should not be any issues.

Unfortunately it doesn't work like that - even free is against copyright too (there have been free mods that have had cease and desists against them which broke copyright ). They (train companies) may not go after them, but just because it's free it doesn't mean no issues :) ) (if they wanted too, they can ask for a free reskin for example to be removed)

What are the rules on unbranded content? Quite a few DLCs out there contain liveries of companies that no longer exist or the license has expired (the Class 170 Turbostar and the rerelease of Welsh Marches come to mind; the latter has units in ATW livery but with no branding).
I don't think i can answer that one (I'm assuming the Class 170 isn't being removed because it doesn't have the wording on the side). I was only stating that just because it was free, it doesn't stop someone from sending a cease and desist. (even if they most likely won't)

(that's just me covering my own back, not wanting to say something that might end up being quoted, and finding out that i'm wrong :) - but that being said - my comments on the 170 are just an assumption)

The rights may have been bought by other companies. Old and obscure railroads bought by Berkshire Hathaway include Clear Creek Railroad. One version was released unbranded for outside US sales part of the BNSF licensing issue.

Wasn't sure if it had it or not as since Armstrong Powerhouse released the enhancement pack for the 170 I just that instead.

Thank you.

Clear Creek, I assume? That explains the Colorado Central livery on the side.

The issue appears to be branding. Liveries themselves are not an issue as I don't think those can be copyrighted.

Looks like it as when you check their store page the branding patch is separate and not part of the purchase.

Indeed, the Red and Black livery is Virgin in everything but branding.
