Best of Workshop Routes - U.S. and U.K.
I have a core set of workshop routes I've found and used over the years and finally made a collection posting to save them all in one place. These are all exceptional routes with realistic composition and details, using mainly free and some older DLC route content which often goes on sale pretty cheap.

These are mainly small routes, for quick passenger runs or to operate short line freight services. Some of them have quite a few scenarios (Blackwood Creek, Adriana County, Majestic Falls) in the workshop as well.

They can be hard to find by accident or in searches, so I offer them up in one indexed location. Enjoy.

What about Pyne and Warborough, Yatesmouth Branch and Hedborough North?

Just another one to consider for the list - Minerman's New York Division - Bergen Line, which (somehow) has only 3 requirements and still comes complete with realistic bridges. Well worth a look if you haven't already.

Yes, suggest more, I'm trying to get a comprehensive list (a small one, not every possible route, just favorites)

That one is interesting, It's the only one I subscribed to that actually loads and runs even though I don't have all the DLC and there's missing textures! I guess I need to go get the DLC.

Here's two more - GNOS (Great North of Scotland lines) and of course the incomparable, marvellous Temsby Branch (Port). If you really want to see what TS is capable of then that's the one......you could argue Temsby Port is not the best workshop line, that it's the best of 'any' lines.

Basically that whole list is only of use to residents of the USA. The rest of us have to go suck eggs. :(

Get the DLC, you wont regret it. Its been rigorously tested for over 5 years in workshop! =)
If anything is missing it would be assets not textures. Typically the one DLC that is usually missing from people's assets is Munich-Augsburg.

Railfan 722 - many thanks for stepping up and mentioning the Bergen

This is a highly detailed freight and passenger route that has been in creation for the last 5 years. Check it out. It just grows and grows. Updates every few weeks.

Perfect example of why I wanted a list, I already had the Temsby Branch but missed seeing it on my subscriptions. Thanks.

There are advantages to living in the colonies.

Sorry I can't do much about that.

I will say that there are a ton of "workshop routes" on UKtrainsim and other websites that I would like to run but they are dependent on dozens of UK routes and engines that I have no interest in purchasing just to make those routes work. Literally hundreds and hundreds of dollars worth of stuff just to make each route work.

So I guess go savor some of those routes and enjoy?

Nice thing is there are only 3 routes needed, all available from Steam. Amazing what can be done with basic assets. Additional period rolling stock is available through great northerner and RWA and reskins through RWA, all for free.

But at least that choice is yours to make. We antipodeans (and anyone else not a USAean) are in the 'oh dear, how sad, never mind' category.
