Train Simulator Classic 2024
is raildriver controller worth the money?
if I play a simulator I like to try and get hold of whatever I can to make it more immersive. Like I got a steering wheel for ETS2 and a flight stick for flight simulator.

I heard there is a controller for the trains too but its really expensive compared to what my wheel and flight stick cost.

I want to ask the people that own this if its worth buying and where would be a good place to buy it for a UK resident?

I got one. took a bit to get it to work, seeing as how the fine folks here at TS, don't really care to put in the time to ensure this works flawlessly and easy with their program. I finally got it working well with all locos. Now after three weeks at work, I come back, fire up TS 2017, and all my ES44, with separate throttle/dyn brake levers, the throttle has decided it does not want to work properly. the throttle moves though all the notches just fine, rpms increase on the way up, but no amp increase in any notches until 8. then its full bore, and going from run 8, notch by notch down to idle, no amp decrease from full power until idle, and then it zeroes out. It isn't raildrivers issue, it is purely the fine folks that made TS2017. Because believe it or not, Open Rails has programmed the raildriver to operate right out of the chutes with open rails, with no tweaking needed whatsoever. So yes, I say it is worth the money, but I think it works far better with open rails than it does with TS2017.

I like it, not many locomotives use a keyboard and mouse or joystick. Try it as supplied if there are too many issues for you look for Cobra One Raildriver interface. It works better than the supplied software with Raildriver. You uninstall Macro Works and use the Cobra One software as an interface. It is customizeable and works well.

Yes, I agree the Cobra One software makes a much better interface and the customisation is very straightforward as long as you read the manual.
I first came to TS three years ago. Got the raildriver literally 1 week later. It is not perfect, but pretty darned close. The BEST thing about it is the support people - just go to the rail driver page, email them and you will have an answer before your next meal. They are truly helpful, sincere and competent. I would recommend this to anyone. But it is not perfect. just close!

I own one and I like it a lot but.... It is quite inaccurate and there are several trains it doesnt work on. I was able to find an alternative software called TS 2017 Raildriver Interface V1.0 on the internet that helped a lot with the deadzone issues. It also allows me to reverse the direction of the throttle so up is more throttle like the animated lever in hud. I use my Raildriver probably 60% of the time, it adds immersion. I like that it has the speed displayed on the device so you can play the game HUD free.

I recently got a RailDriver for my 40th birthday and I loved it!

If anyone ever get a RailDriver, first thing which they should do is to download the driver software directly from manufacturer's website, not the CD which came supplied with the box as it was out of date and did not work with a lot of locos. The software driver from website is most up-to-date and will work with majority of locos.

Once you've gone through the calibration set-up and assign buttons, you're ready to go!

I also noticed that some 3rd party DLCs (i.e. Armstrong Powerhouse's Class 313) does not work with RailDriver so you need to be aware of this before buying 3rd party DLCs.

I would recommend RailDriver if you play a lot of TS2017.
This is where the Cobra one software comes in.
