Cambrian Coast Route in Progress
Hello everyone,
I am currently making the Cambrian Coast Route in Wales. I am first going to be building Machynlleth to Aberystwyth. Should I then build Machynlleth to Pwllheli or Machynlleth to Shewsbury?

***EDIT: PLEASE READ THE REPLIES TO THIS POST, THE PROJECT HAS BEEN ABANDONED***

Go to Shrewsbury, lets you run long distance trains, eg. Paddington to Aberystwyth
You doing it with ERTMS or normal signalling? Personally, I'd like to see Machynlleth to Aberystwyth and Pwllheli. Can't call it a coast route if there's no coast to run by
I haven't decided yet what signalling type. I'm currently doing the Mach to Aber and will then release that as a first version and will then either make Mach to Pwllheli or to Shewsbury, but all will be done eventually.
Nice! come to think of it I don't think the 158's have in cab signaling modeled. Looking forward to it.
Hello there my name is Jason and I’m from Channel 4’s “The Undateables” from Shrewsbury, so yeah very exciting!!! Lol

Not only I’m a plane spotter ✈️ I’m also a HUGE fan of Train Simulator and especially the Cambrian line (Shrewsbury to Aberystwyth and Pwllheli) cause I have a caravan in Tywyn and I looked at the comments and “Thomas” is creating the route and I can’t WAIT 😊

My question is to you Thomas:
How far have you done making the Cambrian route?

Hope to hear from you soon, Jay 🙂

Hi there Jay,
I haven't done much as I've been very busy recently however I have just filmed Machynlleth-Aberystwyth from the cab so will be using that soon.
Thomas
Oooo ok so at the moment your concentrating on Machynlleth to Aberystwyth cool 😎

I like to see Shrewsbury to Aberystwyth and Pwllheli via Machynlleth route too so I can buy the routes for Train Simulatior to drive a class 158 express sprinter too it’s my dream! I love to play them 🚊 choo chip lol

The 158’s have been in my lifetime since I was a kid or a little nipper lol 😆 and of course it will be “Transport For Wales” livery soon as Keolis Amey will take over Arriva Trains Wales in October and the 158 won’t last long on the Cambrian.

Will it also come as in settings like live timetables, 2 player, free roam etc?

Thanks, Jay

I’m going to finish Mach - Aber first and it will take a while as it’s a very time consuming process, then I will consider continuing to Shrewsbury or Pwllheli.
What do you mean by “Will it also come as in settings like live timetables, 2 player, free roam etc?”
Sounds great, I personally think you should do Machynlleth to Pwllheli cause you’ll get good publicity then, I tried to create the Cambrian myself on Train Simulator but I failed as I only made it up to Tonfanau after Tywyn from Machynlleth, it’s a beautiful site too along the Cambrian but I don’t mind what you want to do first after Machynlleth to Aberystwyth it’s upto you.

I meant by will it have the option of playing trains as in 2 player day if I drive a 158 and another user drives another 158 to pass each other or connect etc. Free roam I mean just to play on what time and day you like to choose (no live timetable).

Would you like to have my email so we can discuss this further and easier?

Thanks, Jay 😊

No multiplayer will be available as that isn’t a thing in Train Simulator however there will be freeroam and timetabled scenarios.
Hi Thomas - I know I'm a little late to the party but I've only just came across it. I would very much welcome the Mach to Aber route as this is the route I travel on most frequently (from Birmingham to Borth).

In terms of what to do in what order, I would suggest the following:

1. Machynlleth to/from Aberystwyth
2. Machynlleth to/from Tywyn and/or Aberdovey
3. Machynlleth to/from Shrewsbury

Point 2, would be a good way to mimic having the two trains couple up at Mach. Quite often (as I'm sure you know), the Pwllheli train tends to arrive second at Dovey Junction but will depart for Mach first, to then become the front of the 4-car train towards Shrewsbury & Birmingham.

I know it's not completely necessary as you could of course just have the AI train waiting at Dovey initially but from a "Part 1-Part 2" scenario it'd work great from my perspective.

Let me know if you'd like any further input or opinion on the route or even as a beta tester I'd be happy to offer my services! Most of all, good luck on the project!

Hi Shane,
Thanks very much for your suggestions, and your plan seems to be interesting. The project is currently on pause because I have exams at the moment, however they will be finished soon and then I will resume the project. Once I've finished Aber - Mach then I will definitely be doing at least part of the line to Pwllheli, most probably initially to Aberdovey or Tywyn and then once that part is done I plan to do the line to Shrewsbury, and then finish the Pwllheli line.
If you have any other suggestions related to the route or think I should make it in a different order then feel free to say!
Thomas
Hey Thomas, how’s the Cambrian route doing? I know your doing Machynlleth to Aberystwyth, then your doing Machynlleth to at least Tywyn. I think you should do all of the line upwards, if not then to Barmouth that would be nice to play on very soon!

Is there anyway I can contact you in a different way as in email so I can see your progress? And other stuff?
Thomas 28. Sep. 2018 um 7:38
Hi Jay,
As I mentioned to Shane I took a break from the project due to exams however I happen to actually be resuming it today! I've got a few things to contemplate about the route (when I laid the track and made Dovey Junction station I completely forgot about terrain!) so I've got to decide as to whether to start again or just have the distant terrain (eg the mountains). If you add me as a friend on steam we can chat about it and I can send you screenshots.
Thomas
Ok, I think you should leave Dovey Junction as it is and just do the terrain but it’s upto you I’m in no control lol.

I’ve added you, now wiring for the pics, so can’t wait.

Still a big fan of the Cambrian route! 🚂
