Downloading free stuff

I went to a site listed on steam (golden age of RR) to download some rolling stock and other things. I click on the download button and a new window opens and there are 2 boxes to fill out . (File name and File type)... then click open. I have no idea how this works. Ive downloaded many things before but this has me stuck. Theres no way to get help from that site.

Not getting any results for a site called that, can you be a bit more specific about the name and URL of the site you mean?

This is the main site. There are links to specific sites for DLC....I tried downloading from a couple of these links and another window always pops up with file name and file type to be filled in when I hit the download button. There is no RWP file for me to place in my railworks folder..steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=735355346

Whilst some of the freeware on the site downloads as .rwp files, many of the downloads are packaged as '.zip' files. So for the latter files, once downloaded you'll need to unzip the files, before you do anything with the content.

You can do so using common utilities such as WinZip, 7-zip or WinRAR. Note, rwp files can also be unpacked in the same way (they're just a type of file archive) should you wish to manually install the assets/content, rather than using the game's 'Utilities.exe' app.
