HUD - HUD is your average train made by DTG - 9/10 its a warm start meaning the engine key is in and the correct electric supply is on allowing you to easily turn on the reverser and release the brakes and increase the throttle with 3 simple keys (default - W ; and A - again this depends because some trains have a throttle/brake lever combined)
ADV - Is more advanced, this is whats called a cold start so you have to manually start up your train - master key, correct power supply (dependant on the type (Steam, Diesel or Electric) and with electric it will rely on what power supply it holds on a route (AC or DC).
I wasn't aware it meant anyhing else in TS.
In the aspects of AP they have two modes - HUD and ADV, I explained what is in HUD but yes it is just your Heads Up Display with a warm-start train
thanks m8
