I think you need an account, where you set up your personal info, card details etc, and then purchase stuff like normal. This is coming from someone who hasn't used their website before.
Here is their list of FAQs which may help: https://www.justtrains.net/support/before-placing-order

thanks i just wondered if it downloaded to your steam or do you have to mess about with files

If it is a boxed item they will send it to uou, and it runs off a CD. I am not too sure about whher it activates through Steam through a download though.
It wasn't me!! Aug 20, 2017 @ 7:39am
No, you have to download a separate file from their website and install it outside of steam.

Just Trains are a doddle, none of that unzipping files business and using TS utilities and the installer.

Just follow their instruction when you download, set up an account, bang in your credit card details and their own installer does the lot.

Their stuff is pricey but high quality.

The only downside in purchasing a route DLC's from Just Trains. Is that you have to also own several of their Locomotive DLC's in order to play all the scenarios contained in the new route you purchase.Otherwise they are excellant but a bit on the expensive side.

The reason for their own registration process, is that their installing program demands that you enter your JustTrains account info when the installer prompts it...

Not a big hassle, and I have some TS products bought from JustTrains.

This is not new and unique to JT so I would suspect if this is an issue for anyone then don't pay and download any 3rdy party DLC and stick with the poor quality of the stuff available through steam - but do check the developer as not only DTG's stuff ends up on their store page.

It's on the expensive side because it (usually isn't) rushed-out-tat. Stick with DTG stuff and expect mediocracy in TS - when you don't have because of 3rd party TS content providers.

I and many here and everywhere spend an inordinate amount of real money enhancing our enjoyment of TS so why would anyone want to continue to paddle in the shallow end of that enjoyment when you can spend more for the the privilege of the deep end where all the big fish are...at, ahem.

Sorry for that...

You know what I mean though.

Very simple to sign up and they do have some awesome content. Loco's as well as routes, you will not be disappointed.

The very least anyone can do is sign up for their newsletter.

Plus they also accept Paypal, so there is no need to give any card details.

I think I purchased the U-Bahn route from Just trains (oddly this route was the reason I got into train SIM, after it sat u used for a long time), came as a .exe file which I ran, and it found my train SIM installation automatically (even though it isn't installed on the C: drive!). Simple as. I can then access the content through my steam version of Train simulator. just don't expect many or any custom scenarios, or the ability to upload content to the workshop using 3rd party add-ons
