We should definatley have more narrow gauge and miniature railways!
We need more narrow gauge and miniature railways! I personally think that Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway would be amazing in the game. We should contact DTG asking them for more Narrow Gauge railways especially Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway. I have sent them an Email about it

I've been on that, an enjoyable line. I've even cycled up that little hill at the end of the valley whilst doing the Fred Whitton challenge

Maybe you are thinking more miniature railways (which would be fantastic to see!) but there are quite a few narrow gauge routes. while not this route, i remember reading a story where a similar route on the south coast regularly brought down WWII German dive bombers. they mistook the scale replica trains for full sized ones, and would misjudge there dives, and crash into the ground after seeing what looked like a giant engineer leaning out of the cab!

technically the two Japanese routes are narrow gauge, there are the two Swiss Meter routes, south Africa is "cape" narrow gauge, there is 3 foot clear lake + the (bad) logging expansion, and not to forget the (also bad) 2 foot Corris railroad. also there is a pair of narrow gauge routes on the "project platform" train sim route, though these are very very short

but i'm a huge narrow gauge fan, mostly because i'm not too keen on fast + modern, and narrow gauge tends to be neither of those.

up to WW1, and during WW1 western Europe was covered with narrow and meter gauge railways, and has some fantastic history. Narrow gauge is still used throughout japan as their "main" gauge, though at 3ft 6in it is on the wider side.

but i think for tourist lines, either Darjeeling Himalayan railway, or the ffestiniog ones are up there as must have routes, but they are huge tasks to complete. (I know its taboo, but Trainz has both of these, plus a few American 2ft/ 3ft logging/mining routes)

You're thinking of the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway on the Kent coast which was put to some military use in the run-up to D-Day. It had an armoured train with an anti-aircraft gun credited with shooting down one aircraft and, as you say, it was thought the size of the train may have caused the pilot to misjudge his range (all IIRC).

Miniature railways are usually tourist lines and as such might be a bit limited from an operational standpoint but perhaps novel enough to be interesting. A wartime RH&DR would be really different.

Strictly speaking this discussion ought to be part of the Exploring New Regions thread where I have spoken up for both the Darjeeling and the Ffestiniog/WHR system (oops- using a different log in).

... Ffestiniog/WHR ... I'll just leave this here (although I can't take any credit for the lovely rolling stock, and most of the photos I've posted earlier have had significant scenic improvements since they were taken) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1114601553

Im very new to this but here goes. How about Australia Tasmania has some very seenic parts, sadly only seen by railway employies now as all passenger services have closed it might creep in to narrow guage as it is 3'6". I have travelled on the Indian Pacific from Adelade to Kalgoorlie a memorable journey travelling across the Nullabore where we did'nt see a tree for most of one day. The Gahn from Adelade to Darwin through the red center visiting places like Alice Springs

You got me thinking about all those beautiful Garrat locomotives, but also a lot of sugar-cane and industrial narrow gauge.

I think train SIM really focusses on the passenger side of things, and many narrow gauge routes are solely industrial.

The Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway would certainly be on my wish list if it ever appeared on TS. I lived near Ravenglass for a number of years and became rather fond of the La’al Ratty.
The State Railways of Thailand has some interesting items in the fleet; Metre gauge Class 158 anybody…

I have no idea if you are being serious or not (?)

Actually I think you may be asking me as a joke to stop pointing out the option to add OP's request to the 'official' thread :-)

Reading your other posts this evening I think your are just being a little fruity. On the juice perhaps? ;-)
