It looks like you don't have the game yet, are you trying to decide on which edition to buy first?
Also have a soft spot for the tornado, but that's getting on a bit nowadays. Still very fun though!

Without giving anything away, maybe hold out on buying anything that isn't on sale for a couple of days...

Shhhhhhh ;)
DTG TS is an amazing game that is fascinating me. There are a lot of stuff: trains, coaches,, routes in different countries and times, a lot of challenging szenarios, but unfortunately there are a several bugs. I dont wont offend DTG , but the team is sometimes very sloppy and careless, especially contacting their support or complaining in this forum. But overall it is a great game.
2) If you are certain you would like this game wait till the sale so that you could get a good price.
3) A quick look at your profile tells me you live in Neath, which is included in the JustTrains Western Mainlines route, so that may be enjoyable for you. (It is quite laggy, check CPU requirements!)
4) Start off with no or few DLC, and once again I advise waiting till the summer sale. You want to make the most of all content, so drowining it out with exciting new DLC means you wont fully utilise the base game.
5) Finally, have fun! This game is known to be broken in more than one area, so feel free to ask the comminty for help. There are some very talented and helpful individuals here who will be happy to help you, including ex-drivers and CPU experts.
:)
The 2017 standard edition is 75% off right now on Steam, so that's probably the best way for you to get started. I haven't used the four routes it comes with very much yet, so I can't really give you an opinion. They are all modern, mostly passenger focused, and mostly electric, so if you think that's where your interests would lie it is a great deal at $10. You really can't beat that price as a starting point with four routes from different countries, to help get a feel for whether you'll even like playing the sim.

I personally started with the TS 2016 standard edition, which was a nice mix for me. It included Cologne (Koln) to Koblenz, which is modern German passenger and freight, Sherman Hill, which is American freight, and Riviera Line in the '50's, which is 1950's era British steam. You'd have to buy it from a retail shop and activate the code in Steam, though, the 2016 edition isn't sold on Steam anymore. Shops like Gamersgate and Greenmangaming have the 2016 version and will discount it periodically, but right now I don't see any great deals on the 2016 version so you may just want to go with the 2017 standard edition at $10 for now.
The summer sale will probably be great for adding other routes and locos, but the Standard Edition may or may not still be on sale once the summer sale begins. I don't know how that usually goes, this will be my first experience with the summer sale.
