Help with Semaphore Signalling
Hi,

I am creating my first route on TS2020 and am building the Penrith to Keswick line as it was in the 1950s. I am using the standard Kuju lattice and wooden semaphore signals that come with the game. However, when I place signals and link them as shown on several youtube videos I have watched they either (more commonly) constantly show red permanently or (less commonly) show green until passed then permanently show red afterwards. Sometimes the signals do work but when I replicate the exact same signal and pointwork in a different area of the station it doesn't work.

I was wondering if anyone could explain how exactly to signal semaphores so that they work as I have spent a lot of time on Penrith station so far but the signals are ruining it as most of them don't work.

Thanks,
Leander45690

Are you exiting the build screen all the way back to the main screen before running any kind of scenario? If not, you should do - the signals will not re-set themselves correctly until you exit and then start the scenario from the main menu. It will not be easy trying to explain where you are going wrong without seeing exactly how you are doing it (a picture is worth a thousand words!). Also, are you setting AWS magnets? The right way round? < Common mistakes.

Hi Glenn, yes I am coming all the way out and replaying the scenario and still receiving red signals. I haven't as yet set up any AWS at all and I have made sure the signals are the right way with all links facing the direction of travel. I'll see if I can send a photo of me in editor mode with the links of the signal I'm currently working on visible. How would I send that screenshot to this discussion?

I actually use a very small app' called Lightshot for all my screenies (not on Steam tho.) - Its free, dead easy to use, you can select all or any part of your screen, you can save the screenie to your PC or upload it, copy the link and then use that for people to see the screenie.

These are links to two screenshots. The first is the signal at red as it appears in the game and link 1 and the second is of links 2-4. All points are set to allow a train towards link 2 (the highest of the links in the second screenshot).

In the first shot, I would be tempted to move that link a bit further away from the junction - looks a little close to me. Others appear to be OK as far as I can see. Have you checked track directions? Press Spacebar twice. Track will turn blue or red with direction arrows. Blue allows movement in both directions - red is only one way, depicted by the arrows. If arrows are pointing wrong way, then you will not be permitted to travel on that track and of course a red signal will be displayed. Track direction can be changed by using the 'Select' tool to draw out a section of track then changing it by hitting 'Toggle' in the track properties panel on the right of screen.

I also suggest that you go into settings and move yout 'Scenery Density' slider all the way to max (right) or you will soon find that many objects are invisible! I can see by the slider bottom right that it is very low.

Thanks I've moved the scenery density and had a look through all the track directions and signal link points on the space bar but they all seem to be fine. All bi-directional and the signal link was moved back off the junction a bit. I'm struggling to work out what the issue is haha.

Oooo nice! At least isolation brings us time to do what we love doing!:steamhappy:

Hmm. Here comes a suggestion. Create a clone of the route. In the clone, delete all the signals. Now choose a different set of signals - suggest colour light for this test. UKLEDSignals would be a good choice - if you have them, they will be in the RSC folder. Now place signals in the same locations, but set no more than 2 in place at a time. Run a standard scenario and see if they work. If yes, add one or 2 more and test again, and so on. Its a bit of a pain, and it might not work, but it is going to be a process of elimination etc. Stop as soon as you come up against one that is not working and we will take it from there.

Am going offline for rest of the day now - my oldest grandaughter has arranged a family quiz night over a video conference thingy. So good luck and I'll be back tomorrow
