TS 2019 Installation Files and Locations
Hi Guys,
New to all this train simulation but have bought TS 2019.
I have been looking at various sites for more add ons and realise there are loads of options out there.
My background is IT so have a reasonable understanding of files etc.
However, is there a definitive guide out there somewhere that shows which type of files need to installed into which directories?
E.g. If I get a new route I understand I also need to ensure there are locos, scenarios etc to go with it to make sure it all works as designed.
I got a route downloaded for the Keighley Worth Valley railway but need to add a loco to make sure it runs properly.
Any help of where all types of files are held would be much appreciated.

Many thanks.

Hello Neil, if you buy any DLC for TS, please read the information along side that DLC. Sadly many don't and then find the DLC does not work or requires other DLC as well for it to work.
Most DLC full routes require the base game TS 2019 to work (and include traction plus rolling stock) other separate DLC like traction including steam engines, can also be downloaded and run on those routes if 'Quick Drive' enabled.
Steam platform TS2019 DTG supported DLC is an automatic add to your TS base game LIBRARY installed contents box after paid for and downloaded.
Other TS DLC from other developers, will need to be added to TS via the instructions that relate to that DLC.
Paid for DLC with a 'Steam Code' is added to your TS2019 game (or other Steam games) via the 'ADD GAME' tab bottom left of this page.
I can't stress enough how important it is to read the information about the DLC you like first before paying for it, to understand what the DLC is and what is required for it to work.
Hope that helps.
Best.

As to content purchased through Steam or DTG it should install automatically into the appropriate folders after it is downloaded. As you get more immersed into the game and download 3rd party content in some cases some manual file placement will be required it is pretty much copy & paste or drag & drop. The "readme" file included with that content will explain where these files should be placed and how to do it. Someone will be happy to assist you when you get to that point. If you open the "guides" tab at the top ribbon there are many help articles on how to do this. There are manuals located here: SteamLibrary/steamapps/commom/RailWorks/Manuals for each route, locomotive and the game itself. Welcome to TS2019.

Useful info guys. Thanks for now.
I guess it is the manual placement of files that I will need to learn about.

Once you more proficient with TS2019 - RW-Tools can be a useful tool and shows the file structure of TS. http://www.agenetools.com/ There is also an app in the Railworks folder "NameMyRoute" which again shows how the Content Routes & Scenarios are structured. You need to understand TS2019's zero compressed files which are the ".ap" files and there is a lot of info about them on the various forums.

Thank you.

Yes Hello I'm a 2020 owner with 8 dlc and only 1 seems to have worked so what do I need to do?
