CambridgeLines & the ECML
Mostly fails to load correctly

Can anyone help me., a bit of a novice here.

I have downloaded, as far as I can see ALL the required Files included and described in

including The ECML London to Peterborough. I have used the Railworks utility to install all the files.

However when I try to run a route I almost invariably end up with a screen that is live and I can move around and drive engines BUT ALL the scenery and assets are Black apart from a few bright Highlights such as engine steam and station lights. What am I doing wrong ?

Occasionally I can get a proper set of scenery and assets if I run the line from St Ives to Sutton, but none of the others that I have tried.

I Presume I have had no response as this site blocks the web address I gave. Without going to the original web address a Google search of CambridgeLines & ECML-Railworks should find the address rather than block.

I also note that when I try to load the scenarios many show a pop up listing missing assests !

Any help would be greatly appreciated

OK, Seem to have overcome the lack of any scene lighting.
Under TS2020 settings I changed display detail from highest to custom and did likewise with advanced detail settings. Changed screen display to "windowed". Then all was OK.
Then set back to full screen and highest detail in both display settings and advanced display settings . All seems OK,most mysterious

Thought I had cracked the problem of everything black except some peak white highlights using CambridgeLines, however it persists in a particular mode. Everything is again black if I set the weather to clear / sunny !. All other modes of weather provide correct light renditionsm, any ideas?

cheers

Would you be able to take a screenshot to show exactly what it is that is going on?

Hello, This is the authers site, Theres a message that he forgot to include the terrain and scenario files with the last release so downloading these files may (or not) help, Maybe worth a look. https://sites.google.com/site/cambridgelinesrailworks/home

Hi Stehodg,
I will check whether I have included all the new Terrain & Scenario file. Meanwhile I have created a couple of screenshots of the issue but not sure how I can upload to this group.
How do I do this ?
The problem only occurs if I have Dynamic lighting turned on in settings.
Also note that in some sky areas I get a warning of "texture missing".
Would love to overcome these issues, as the historic Cambridge lines are of great interest as we have a boat on the Great Ouse which some of these lines used to transit, and the remenants of bridges still exist as does the Guided busway that uses the trackway from St Ives to Cambridge.

Stehodg I also notice that on the bridge at St Ives for the Huntingdon line the north track is fine but the south track, although appearing contiguous cause engines to "crash" as they transit it !

Any help appreciated

I had this loaded in the past with most of the assets. It got deleted when the game version was automatically updated. So back up your files.

Peter

Upload your screenshot with the manager, then copy the URL, top left corner and paste it in your post.

This bit from v5 blurb.

"This is a huge, high-detail route and it requires a powerful machine to run it well. In its current form loading takes about 3 minutes on my machine but runs smoothly in-game. Despite the many improvements of 64-bit there is still some stutter when moving into intensive areas such as Kings Cross or Cambridge station."

Is your processor up to it?

I concur with ginger-welsh and route creator. In my own experience CambridgeLines & the ECML is one if not the most demanding route I have ever used on TS especially when you consider the quantity of consists used in the supplied scenarios. However, the high number of consists increases the realism and atmosphere of the route and I enjoy it but it does test everything my computer and my processor has got left to give.

To convert my v 3.0 to v 5.0 requires 5 new files DL, plus the 3 earlier 2016 assets files already installed.

To the OP. Did you DL 8 files?

It turned out those 8 files didn't do it.

Only Quick Drive worked. Free roam and scenarios were black screen as described by the OP.

It needed assets files 1 & 2 versions 3.0 to get it running.

Simsig, an operations game, has a free scenario for the Cambridge - Ely area. It's worth a try just to see how the real thing works in practice. There is an interesting book on the station by Ron Shorland-Ball. Pen & Sword books.

Hi Stehodg & ginger-welsh

Stehodg,
I have check and do have the latest terrain & Scenario files.

ginger-welsh,
From your previous post I guess you are seeing the same almost all black display that I do under the same circumstances. are you saying that if I reload asset files 1 & 2 versions 3.0 it will cure this problem.
Sorry I have not yet posted images of the display, will try to this weekend.
Also your screenshot of the Great Ouse crossing seems to be a different bridge to the one I have at St Ives. Mine looking north shows the road bridge with the chapel over the river in the distance, looking south shows a short section of river then the lock !!
I will try to post image of bridge as well.

cheers

This is the same bridge looking North.

Those black screens are simply missing texture, but strangely QD worked OK.

I added the files 1 & 2 v 3 to the rest and it worked.

To install this route you need the following freeware packs:

CambridgeLines Assets 3rd party (Bundled Asset Packs) 1 of 3
⦁ CambridgeLines Assets 3rd party (Bundled Asset Packs) 2 of 3
⦁ CambridgeLines Assets 3rd party (Bundled Asset Packs) 3 of 3
⦁ Cambridge Lines & The ECML v3 - Assets 1 of 2 (Custom Asset Pack)
⦁ Cambridge Lines & The ECML v3 - Assets 2 of 2 (Custom Asset Pack)
⦁ Train Simulator: Isle of Wight Route Add-on

I also live in the area (Downham Market) so it's important that it works.

Ginger-welsh
Thanks I will try reloading those files.
Re the bridge crash. OK same bridge as your screenshots, however view down river seems different to mine.Anyway I was misinforming you, the engine crashes just after passing west of the Old Sinclair factory, the mill building in your screenshot foreground, not as it crosses the bridge !

Do you get the same crash at this location ?

cheers

Peter
