Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway Re-Make
Hey everyone,

I am going to make a better version of the Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway by changing all of its tracks. Curves will have easements and superelevation for more comfortable riding in speeds excess of 30 MPH.

I am currently working on the Shepton-Mallet - Masbury - Binegar section of the route and those will be the starter points of this project. After I have conected these three locations up with improved track, I'll upload it onto the STEAM Workshop if there is demand.

If there is anyone who just happens to have seen the Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway in its heyday, which was roughly around the 1950s, and has information that could help me improve this route, please make a comment on this thread.

Cheers,
Gregory U.

P.S. I have put my Weltham - Juda route on hold for now. Just for those who happen to that route that I built.

Wish some one would do Diesal and Electric? for this line and it's branch lines. Passenger and Freight trains.
(I also can't do editor of such things. Not that PC savvy, when it come's to that. And I doss my hat to all of you, who can do such things.)

I suck badly a trying Steam Loco's. Real bad.

Cos my Oborne and Toleman ancestors came from these areas.

See Ya!

From the 50 odd yr old from Down Under. (but I don't feel 50 yr old. Odd maybe, Ha!)

In realistic terms there where no diesel locomotives running on this railway, especially in the mid-50's. Electric? Not a chance. As the railway closed in 1966, just two years before the end of British steam which occured somewhere in August 1968.

Oh Drat. I was thinking beyond the 50's. Such a pity.

But I thank you, kindly.

Well, you can drive diesels on the S&D with Quick Drive.

I could make a scenario or five that would use a diesel, then I just need to figure out which ones ran atleast once on the S&D...

Their are other more worthy members of this forum, in general. Who should be helped out, first.

It'll be my pleasure to make those scenarios just for you but if you insist, okay.

Question:
Who thinks that the stations look a little blank? I do. Perhaps I could add some props to them. What do you think?

Good luck relaying the existing track, I can vouch from experience that it's a pain in the backside.

That route does not have improved curves and is not as detailed as I am going to do my Re-Make. That route even has a floating section of the track on the extension down to Bournemouth West. For goodness sake read my OP.
